The Walking Dead

Zombie Apocalypse soap-opera. Just burned through the first three volumes (comprised of something like 12 issues each).

Let's see...

Well written, insightful, and depressing. I recommend it to any who have a moderate to advanced enthusiasm for the subject.

Here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead (mild spoilers but nothing that will ruin your experience as this is a VERY long series still in production)

I couldn't get past the first season of Walking Dead. I kept hearing 'Wait it gets better, it's not this slow forever' but it ... was ... so ... slow.

I'm torn.  I don't think he's dead, but I'm going to feel a bit cheated when/if the show confirms I'm right.

My biggest reason for him not being dead is that they never actually showed him getting bit.  Nicholas fell on top of him and we clearly see intestines coming out of where Geln's lungs would be.  The intestines we are seeing belong to Nicholas.

If he actually died in that hoard it feels like a fairly pointless way for them to kill off a very well liked character.  Maybe he gets bitten and has a tearful goodbye, maybe he survives unscathed.  I'm still not seeing how he could ACTUALLY survive what the show depicted, but I don't think he's dead.  I know we've seen that you can cover yourself in zombie guts and fool the walkers, but he was covered in delicious Nicholas guts, not seeing why the zombies wouldn't just keep eating till they hit the floor.

Seasons one and two aren't great.  I had to try a few times to get through season two and was only successful the second time due to the miracle of binge-watching.  After that it has been one of the few shows I look forward to seeing every week.

Re: The Walking Dead

If he's dead, they did it right.  He gave Nicholas at least one too many chances.  He was a bit too soft in a really hard world.  I like the new Rick.  No mercy, no stragglers, keep up or get fucked.

Re: The Walking Dead

This season is fucking brutal so far. I love it.

Don't fuck with Carol, man. Last week when she snapped into action and went full on rogue, oh man. That lady.  heart

Definitely do not ever fuck with Rick. You will not win.

I don't see how Glen survives that fall. 95 to 5 he's chow. Maybe he scuttles under dumpster while zombies tear into Nic's corpse. Doesn't seem likely.  sad

Re: The Walking Dead

They don't kill off major characters if it doesn't further the story line.  This death would be meaningless.

Like Someguy said, that was Nicholas' guts, and we never see Glen die. Basic rules of TWD are that if you don't see them die, don't count them out. There could have been a storm drain under that dumpster...

Not sure that holds up under analysis.

Re: The Walking Dead

I read the comics, but they have deviated a bit from them. So I am torn as to whether he is dead or not. I can see how that should be Nicholas on top of Glen, and hope that is the case.

I am cheering because in the middle of all this mayhem, all of the black characters seem to have survived so far. I do have odds on who the next one is to go though.

I passed out after watching the Giants game Sunday and had to watch the last episode last night. I saw a couple of ominous posts but managed to avoid all spoilers until I saw the show.

Leaning not dead.

And Jason, I assume you mean this season, right?  Because Bob, Tyrese, T-Dog, Morgan's son, Noah, and a bunch of other lesser characters have all gone thus far smile.

Yes this season. I used to joke that they had a max quota of 2 at a time on the show.

Re: The Walking Dead

Glen did not get the memorial note like Herschel did at the end of the episode he died.  The intentionally had a weird camera angle and didn't show glen's body being ripped apart because I don't think they killed him off.

What I don't like about that is that the guy that has been known for years to be the quick, nimble point guy gets taken down by a corpse.  Does not compute.  /ibweaksauce

Re: The Walking Dead

There have been spottings of Glenn filming later episodes and with new characters ("Jesus").  My assumption is the guts are Nicholas' but I'm interested in seeing how he gets out of that.

Re: The Walking Dead

We more than likely will not find out this coming week either. This week will be about Rick in the RV and the people returning to Alexandria, wondering where Glen is.

Damn it!! Now that I think about I have figured out what is going on and I can't spoil it.

Re: The Walking Dead

I believe that was Glen that said, "Help" at the end of the episode?

And I have no idea how many other "Groups" they are dealing with right not. The Wolves that attacked Alexandria didn't have any guns. But the people that attacked Rick, Daryl, Sasha and Abraham did. And are which group was chasing the 3 people Daryl ran into?

Last but not least, how the fuck did Daryl let that blonde get that close to the 2 burned bodies without some kind of warning?

And I don't understand the whole burned forest thing.

I may need to start recording Talking Dead.

Side note: Into the Bad Lands looks to be another badass show.

Re: The Walking Dead

The "Help" came so quick I wasn't sure who it came from.  Hopefully it's Glenn.

I'm guessing the group that ambushed Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham is the same one that chased the 3 people and Daryl later.

I'm guessing no one knew those bodies were still "alive."

It sounds like the 3 stole one of the gas trucks and lit it up to try and kill a ton of walkers.  They said they were trying to fight the walkers originally.  Not really sure about the truck Daryl found and why it was hidden there and not burned.

I've been starting to watch Talking Dead and it's pretty good.  Not really any spoilers but helps process the things that went on in the episode.

I might give Into the Bad Lands a shot. I also think Preacher looks like a good one too.
