Bugeye seats

Picked up a cheap set of bugeye seats, because I love them so.

They look pretty silly with the stock door cards.

up up to the seats themselves, much better bolstering, and better quality of fabric (my black fabric is slowly fading)

down down to not matching the interior

I'm on the same page.  But figured they were comfortable enough to justify.

I've got a set of 9-2x seat covers that will fit, but I'm washing them currently and like the bugeye fabric better.  We'll see if I put the seat covers on.

I don't think they will fit the lower bolsters, compared to ours, bugeye's are huge.

Re: Bugeye seats

Definitely great bolstering. I had them in the RS and they held great. US seats that fit slimmer guys?? Outrageous!

I was gonna keep them before I sold that car but... its just too odd looking with all the white interior. I would re-upholster those door cards. I think I've seen a thread either here or i-club maybe nasioc. Seemed like a pretty easy job if I recall.

Does anyone know if 2008 seats will fit in our cars? I'd so love a pair of these:

You and every other USDM STi owner.

GRB 2008+ STi seat which is the standard all over the world.

Re: Bugeye seats

arrow-up Wow, those are nice.  Not sure if they'd fit, but damn those are sexy.

Not sure what I'm going to do about the interior.  Doesn't bother me at the moment, but if I stumbled on some cheap WRX interior bits I'd probably jump on them.

I've just always loved these seats.

I've had bugeye fronts in for about a year and a half now and I love em'.  Good choice.

Re: Bugeye seats

The 08 STI USDM seats aren't that great.  I had an 08 STI and was actively looking at Bride and Recaro replacements.  There is absolutely no lumbar support (like most Subaru seats).  JDM WRX and STI seats are still one of the best bang for your bucks; they are much more snug, but I have no problem in them (6'1", 240lb).

Yup. I find out last night that they don't even come with the two side bolster support bars on each side for the thigh/leg support. Which some people on here cut out in their 9-2X seats.  facepalm

It's all cushion and padding.  unamused

The base of the seat is the same as on the previous gen Forester XT.

Yea I sat in the 08 sti seats and they suck balls. They don't hold anything, especially slim guys. Its almost if it were made for fat people to roll out of the seats easier.... facepalm

I would have purchased them immediately on that quality alone.

That explains why those seats leave you feeling as if you are being woken up by sweaty dog nuts slapping you in the face after being gang raped by a group of hairy midgets.  facepalm

Re: Bugeye seats

Bumping this because I have an important question.

Is the black cloth on the stock bugeye seats the same look & feel as the black fabric on our cloth seats?

Definitely not. The bugeye black seat fabric has a much smoother texture to it, sort of like alcantara/suede, as where you move your hand across it, it leaves a trail. Our stock seats do no such thing. Our fabric is much stiffer to the touch.

I hear one can find a date that can move her foot across it and leave a trail.  Is this true?

The WRX TR or 06+ WRX might be a good black match. But don't quote me on that. If I was you, I'd just re-upholster the stock rear seats in a similar fabric.
