Holy shit, so much composure/skill/balls to maintain control.  99.9% of other riders would've baited.

Re: Sportbike owners club

I've had a set installed for 2 years now with no problems. Levers aren't anything complicated. Some people have had issues with the brake cylinder pivot bolt not fitting right and needing boring out or lubing, but otherwise there's not much to go wrong. Adjusters are kinda meh, but you usually set it once and never touch them again. I sold the gold Pazzos I had on before for $150 and bought some black chinese levers for $32 shipped.

Re: Sportbike owners club

Yeah, those headlights are probably one of my favorite mods. I do a lot of night riding and I don't think I could go back to the old setup.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7092/7230455642_b01ebb86bb_c.jpg

I end up in the front of most group rides since my lights completely dwarf anyone else's setup. Well worth the $200 or so I spent on it.

Ha! I could see that. Your attention to detail lends the bike an OEM quality that's hard to match.

Are those silencers or saddlebags?  wink  Those things are huge - I wonder if they have catalytic converters in them.  Anyway - what's it like driving a sub 10 second bike on the street?

yeah, those are actually cannons, err stock mufflers.  They have the cats in them.  sad .I would dearly love to get somehting to replace them, but aftermarket slipons are 7-800+ and a full system is 1500+ if you want a good one.  Akrapovic, brocks, etc.  PLUS, I went for the 4yr factory warranty plan, and dont want the hassle of a problem if the motor has an issue.  No exhaust for me till its paid for, lol.

as for how it feels, my modded 03 R1 was quick, but this brings a whole new meaning to the word fast.  Ive only had it to 7500 rpm, and it makes the same power (~145rwhp) at that rpm as my R1 did at peak.  and Ive still got 50rwhp to go, lol.  They seem to be dynoing at 188-195 stock vs last years model @ 165ish.

Im not sure Im ready for that.   eek  On a plus side, even if I dont really redline it anywhere, the added TQ is VERY NICE.  around 112-115 rwtq vs 80 on my R1.  At a much lower rpm too.

ALSO, they still respond well to mods.  ecu flash, full brocks system, fly;s out, and 0w oil with some trick additive, and one guy is making 218 rwhp.  unreal.  when it finally gets exhaust, etc it'll feel like a whole new animal.

Re: Sportbike owners club

lol @ Topher.  Im black, from the waist down....   banana

Seriously tho, I needed something more comfortable than a full on sportbike.  Briefly considered a gsxr750, as the gixxer's are probably the most comfortable bike in the class; but the lure of the big power pulled me in.

I raised the bars almost an inch, and lower pegs; and I have no trouble riding it, like I did with my R1.  (I have back problems, nerve damage in my knee, etc).  I wanted something that could get out of its own way, and there isn't too much out there in the middle of sport/comfort/touring type bikes.

Maybe a Vmax would have worked, but they are 5G's more, and slower.  Everyone has a Busa, so I didn't want that.  Triumph?  lol.  Vrod?  no.  Also thought of a FZ1 or a Z1000, but the Z1000 wasn't as comfortable as the 14 either.  So I'm happy.

Huh - I had no idea folks did that on sportbikes.  I had to do than on my KTM (and get a taller seat) to keep my knees from screaming at me.

Rod, you should get a tinted visor so people think you're black.
