Moar Plastic Scratches n' Stuff...

I've got some serious scratching happening around the plastic trim of my scoop, and I don't think it's vandalism, but I don't know what caused it.  Anyway, I'm not sure what product to try to remove the scratches, since it is plastic, so I figured I'd ask here.

Thoughts?  You can actually feel the scratching if you run your hand over the scoop, so they're deep...  Am I going to have to take this off, bondo it, and have it resprayed?

no, it's paint. the same paint that is on the rest of the panels. try polishing it like you would any other part of the car. people on motorcycle forums do this all the time and assume it's some special surface that they can't wax or clean.

though to be honest it almost looks like there was bird shit there before and someone used something harsh like a wire brush to remove it. quite a lot of clear coat damage so I'm unsure if it's repairable. could try ScratchX to see what happens.

That's not coming out with any sort of detailing work. You're going to have to repaint that scoop. sad

Sun damage.  The plastic under the paint is heating up, causing the paint to crack.  My Sentra was riced out with some painted interior panels when I got it, they all looked just like that.

I'm so jealous of people who still have an intact front badge.

arrow-up It isn't "still intact", though.  It's probably the same aftermarket one that almost all of us have.

No...  It is le raining today, and I tried the grip it n' rip it approach Sunday, but no dice.  I wonder how it would look if I dropped it at a body shop and rolled around with no scoop for a day or two...
