Look at my red rocket.

I've had this baby since early March of this year, but delayed in making a PMR thread and then lost my camera. I've since replaced it, so time for pics!

I took a few this weekend at a local park. They're a little over exposed and such. I'm still getting used to the new camera and it was very sunny. Oh well. More to come, I'm sure...

From the factory: 2006 Saab 9-2x Aero, 5MT. Options: Heated windshield/mirrors, HID's, Sun roof, fog lights, premium sound, every thing EXCEPT leather interior. I do believe this qualifies as a bona fide Saabaru Unicorn.

Modifications: Kenwood head unit, Proclip Ipod mount, extended arm rest, 2004 Subaru STI BBS wheels, Rally Armor UR mudflaps, home made grounding kit, FRAM intake filter, Grimspeed AOS, Whiteline FSB, Perrin RSB,  Kartboy front/rear endlinks, Helix catted downpipe, STi catback exhaust, Cobb turbo heat shield, gas hood struts

The Saabaru front badge. Thanks Limequat! I get lots of confused questions from people who don't know the car.

I bought it with these '04 STI BBS wheels on it. I love the look. I briefly considered painting them gold, but decided against it after cleaning them and seeing them full strength silver.

The most significant mod I've done so far is probably the mudflaps. Huge difference visually, IMO, and the do a nice job of protecting the paint too. I don't know how to Photoshop my reflection out. Whatever.

Here you can see the Ipod mount and the extended arm rest. Kinda dirty on the carpet. Oh well.

I Purple Power'd the engine bay about a month ago. Still looks pretty good, but starting to show dirt/grease again.

Update: The Sti exhaust is on and sounding/looking great.

Re: Look at my red rocket.

Looks great!  I'd have to say that red is my favorite color for the 9-2x.

Thanks! Time for a spotting is closing fast. I'm picking up shop and taking my toys to Boulder in August.

I bought a Subie for a reason. Would it look better? Yes. But I'm not willing to pay extra money to lose capability. Not for me.

I have a full 1" lift on low mileage struts and springs, ready to bolt in.  It would make your red rocket look much more massive.  cool

Re: Look at my red rocket.

I've had the Sti exhaust painted and mounted for about 2 weeks now and can't recommend it enough. The sound is perfect for me. A very distinctive resonance note right around 1500rpm, and completely civilized elsewhere.

+1 couldn't agree any more. These cars don't have an awful wheel well to begin with.

Will you be pulling those rubber liners off of rear fenders?

I had never considered it...is that a thing? No issue with paint damage/rust? I see a lot of Legacy Outbacks rolling around with rust-through in that area, or a riveted patch...

In my experience, those rubber liners are the cause of rear fender cancer.  Honda uses them, if that tells you anything.  I pulled mine off long ago.  checkmark

Re: Look at my red rocket.

I'm guessing he means it retains moisture and salt water, and holds it against the paint.
