MYO6...is it going to happen?

So, I was at the PRI show last week and a little birdie mentioned that the 2006 92x might not happen at all.  A whole lot of nothing has happened since GM sold that stock.

Re: MYO6...is it going to happen?

I kind of hope it doesn't happen... makes our cars that much more rare.

Motor Trend said the 9-2 will be around until 2008.... that seems a bit longer that I would think.  hmm

That's an interesting strategy.  What is the logic behind this bold move?

My wife expexts to pick up her '06 92-x next week. The salesman called and said it was en route from Halifax. We are in Windsor, Ontario.

Seems odd since these cars are made in Japan that they would be arriving in Halifax.  confused

Yea, Halifax. We had ordered the car in August and the dealer managed to find an identical model that was shipped to a dealer in Halifax, and arranged to have that one shipped to Windsor. Hope this clears it up. Or, maybe, they really are made in Sweden....

Re: MYO6...is it going to happen?

HI Guys! I am new here. I just want to say that my local dealer actually did received 3 2006 saab 92x. But unfortunately there are all Linear and it seems to me that we might getting all linear for 2006, just look at what GM did in Canada. They are all 92x linear.

Re: MYO6...is it going to happen?

The more I read about this, the more it sounds like the 2.5L Aero won't be available for 06 and beyond.  Could this be a certification issue where Saab does not want to invest any more money in a limited run platform?

Re: MYO6...is it going to happen?

Don't worry, you'll get it (2006 aero) if you want to pay the full price. It's going to be very limited numbers tough. The spec. is on edmunds.com. Other then the 2.5 engine everything else is pretty much same shit. It should be on dealer lots on january, the latest early feb.

Re: MYO6...is it going to happen?

I just got a "Saab Discoveries" Winter 2005 edition in the mail from my dealer, and it mentions the 9-2x on the second page article "A Preview of what's to come", so I expect the 2006 is a definite, at least in the US.

Hey Per, fancy seeing you here.  big_smile

I posted this over on Saabcentral on 8/9/05 (http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showt … &pp=20).
It's the release handed down to the sales managers at Saab dealerships, because that's the fellow who Emailed it to me on that day.

Subject:

2006 Model Year 9-2X Pricing

In an effort to assist you in managing your inventory, the following is a summary of the 2006 9-2X packaging, pricing and distribution strategy:

NEW FOR 2006!
q Linear name changed to 9-2X 2.5i to be consistent with other model nomenclatures. Aero model name remains the same.
q Packaging and equipment enhancements include:
o 9-2X 2.5i horsepower increases to 173hp (+8hp)
o 9-2X Aero turbocharged engine increases from 2.0 litre to 2.5 litre resulting in +3hp (230hp) and +18 lbs/ft low end torque
o All-season tires added to 17" alloy wheel option on Aero model
o Eliminated option constraint of Aero model with Moonroof and 17" wheels
o Moonroof is now a free-flow option on both models ($1200 MSRP)
o Revised Aero Sport Package combining 17" alloy wheels, all-season tires, and Xenon headlamps ($1450 MSRP)
o Simplified Leather Package replaces Premium Package on both models ($1095 MSRP)
o Simplified Aero exterior color combinations by offering 3 colors: Midnight Black Metallic, Arctic Silver Metallic, and Brilliant Red
q Simplified package combinations by eliminating Xenon headlamps, 6-Disc CD Changer, and Front Foglamps from 2.5i model

PRICING
We are pleased to announce that 2006 model year starting MSRPs for the 9-2X remain unchanged even with the increase in engine performance! In addition, we have re-packaged popularly-equipped models in an effort to offer you more flexibility to achieve a competitive price point. The example below compares the 2006 popularly equipped models versus 2005:

MSRP
q 2005 9-2X Linear with Leather and Automatic Transmission = $26,735
q 2006 9-2X 2.5i with Leather and Automatic Transmission = $25,333
Value Position = ($1,400)

q 2005 9-2X Aero with Leather, Moonroof, and 17" Wheels = $31,795
q 2006 9-2X Aero with Leather, Moonroof, and 17" Wheels = $30,695
Value Position = ($1,100)

Please note, the 2006 model year destination charge will now be consistent with other Saab vehicles at $720. Pricing will be announced to the public in September 2005.

DISTRIBUTION
Production for the 2006 Model Year will begin in October 2005. Contingent on your allocation, vehicles are planned to arrive at your dealership in the January timeframe. Your 9-2X allocation will be derived from your 12 month sales history of 9-2X.

Now what I'm hoping for are some of the extra amenities that the 2006 WRX gets.  Like standard STi aluminum control arms and other bits such as that, and wiper heaters like on the Limited model.  Not to mention the much-more-wonderful 4-piston front (iron) and 2-piston rear (aluminum) calipers, including vented calipers in the rear, now.  (These were standard on STi models overseas prior to the new gold Brembos, and are calipers derived originally from the Nissan 300Z.  Subaru and Nissan have several shared parts in the bin.)

I'm still wondering if I can swing payments on this thing, even with the potential sale of my '00 2.5RS.  We've already got the payments on the lovely Outback we bought from you, plus my wife's doctorate school loans just came out of deferment....

So we'll see.  smile

=S2=  (Chris)
