New overlords: Thoughts?

I, as well as others, would like to know your stance on this sort of behavior:

Re: New overlords: Thoughts?

Meh. It is what it is.

I don't feel like it's that bad. Are you concerned with the comment?

I use the term suck a dick pretty regularly. Namely because I doubt it's that great for the giver, regardless of gender.  cool

Re: New overlords: Thoughts?

Homophobic slurs have always been one of the few things I've seen this community rally against, and that statement is definitely something I found to be unacceptable.

Re: New overlords: Thoughts?

I agree. Fag, et al, has never been accepted here. And I'm proud this community has rallied against it.

I guess I just don't see this comment as that inflammatory.

What do you want me to do? Tell him to not be a dbag?

Re: New overlords: Thoughts?

It's hard to try and make an example out of this comment after seeing so much ridiculous stuff on the forums in the past. I agree it's certainly out of line, morally, but animal is pretty heated over there in the gun thread. Send him a PM, why not?

Fuck him dude, brush it off it's the Internet.

Not sure.  That's why I'm asking if Autoguides has any policies on this front.  From the reaction in the few posts after that, I'm not the only one that found it to be inflammatory.

I know I don't have much weight around here, but I certainly found it offensive. Way out of left field, too.

Re: New overlords: Thoughts?

I know I'm a noob here, but given the fact that it is in an off topic section I would probably let it ride.

On the main car sections nothing like that would be OK, but that is just my 2 cents.

I'm actually impressed at how well people take shit on this forum. On my forums I start getting PMs the second anyone starts name calling.   I think it has something to do with the demographic of the car owners.

Already wrote to the admin, yesterday, with the post and URL linked.  People need to stand against that kind of shit, the same way they do about folks getting called "Canadian", "gook", "chink", etc.  slurs.  Those weren't always considered slurs.

Yes, its in OT.  So what?  Still on the site.  Still directed at someone, and still treating someone badly because of their orientation.

Re: New overlords: Thoughts?

Bryan, I agree, but it has to be a community of people telling him that it's not okay, not one individual with Moderator status using force to silence him.  The former can be powerful, but the latter is easy to write off.
