Re: My black Aero

How do you like the PPG gears? What are the ratios? Great setup btw and nice prodrive (?) cluster smile

Re: My black Aero

Thanks! Yeah, it's a prodrive v8 cluster. I really like the ppg setup. I got a steal on it, relative to what it would cost new, with an awesome low mileage clutch and new oem flywheel included. Ratio's are close ratio similar to the Ra's but a tad longer:
3.08
2.15
1.5
1.05
stock 5th

The actual gear whine is very apparent, and constant. At first it was a bit off putting, but now i don't mind it at all, even for a daily. It does sound very "racecar" haha, which is pretty cool. I have a helical setup, I couldn't imagine how loud a straight cut set would be. Overall I'm really happy with the whole setup and don't regret not going with a 6-speed swap.  The ej207 with longer gearing, especially first gear, is awesome to say the least.

Re: My black Aero

Even though it's filthy, here is an update on how she's sitting. Got a good deal on suspension bits from thesaabiest part out. The epic kyb combo really was awful. The  ST coils are night and day in overall ride quality; highly recommended for those looking for a nice riding, quality coil over at a somewhat budget price.

Re: My black Aero

Yup, loving them! Can't believe it took me this long to switch from the back breaking kyb/epic combo.

I need to get some new interior shots up soon. I went all blacked out, door cards and all and I think it came out pretty sweet. The cloth two tone saab door panels seem to magnetize dirt and were pretty much beyond help.

Re: My black Aero

Oooo. S204 HVAC knob inserts, red hazard and (maybe?) black dash trim too (hard to tell). JDM seats and door cards (look to be STi V9 Spec C or wrx, hard to see), and V1 stealth mount. That prodrive cluster remains my favorite part...reads in MPH too...so nice wink

Thanks! Pretty spot on, good eyes. My buddy helped me out with the dash and v1 install,  he's done it before many times and made it look easy. We replicated the s204 look as best we could; painted the dials silver, and used some overlays for the center. The dash trim is painted black, and the seats are spec c v8 I believe. The door cards are just black wrx cards but they match pretty well, and are a huge improvement over the saab two tone look. The v1 has saved me countless times now, especially in the twisties within forest where I work. Highly reccomended for sure.

Thanks dude!

Bad news though. Miss shifted into 3rd last night at around 8k rpm and now my 2nd to 3rd gear synchro isn't happy at all sad Noticeable small grind on normal to spirited shifts into 3rd. Its either 2nd to 4th for now or if i reallly granny shift as slow as humanly possible it will engage without grinding. Neither of which is remotely practical so it ooks like it's coming out on Monday and off to rallispec it goes for a new synchro set overhaul. Not really happy about it but it is. Hopefully it's not down too long
