JDM STi intercooler and JDM STi V7 spec C scoop splitter = direct fit

My sti swapped 92x has an aero hood scoop splitter and I would want maximize ic efficiency with an sti one. My  car is throttle by cable, so do only throttle by cable STI splitters (04-05) fit my hood or will all years (incl. GRB) scoop splitters fit? Local junkyard has a crappy selection for 04-05 STI but loads of 06s and grbs

Thanks for wishing me luck because I did !   banana

I bought a v7 spec c (jdm sti bugeye) sti hood scoop splitter. It bolts on directly with no cutting, and fits into place like the stock splitter. This splitter also has the spray nozzles and tubing for the IC spray. For the time being, I will unplug my windshield washer hose and plug it into the fitting for the IC spray during autoX events. I'll use ice cold distilled water of course to prevent the minerals and metals in water from caking onto the IC. Ive noticed a significant difference in cooling, especially when combined with the ptp turbo blanket. After a hard run the ICs fins were really cold across the whole surface

A question for some of your airflow experts. Why are there large gaps around the splitter (where it sits around the hood.) Am I missing the insulation? I would think that only the splitter and the grated vent beside it should be the only pathways for airflow. Second picture illustrates my problem.

And the gap problem I mentioned. Will sealing the edges promote more airflow into the IC?

Take yours off when you go to the junkyard and compare. Only a couple bolts. My Sti splitter has been modified to fit our scoop but I'm not sure what year it's from.

Just grab any sti splitter you can get cheap, you are going to have to hack it to make it fit under the aero scoop no matter what you get.

AFAIK any 04-07 STi scoop will work once you cut it to fit in the scoop.

I believe that a 2002-2003 sti splitter may be a bolt-on solution for you. Also, possibly, an aftermarket splitter for a bugeye wrx.

PTP turbo blanket in black. Works well to control temps under the hood and my IC is colder. However their advertising claim that you can place your hand on the blanket is absurd. I nearly lost my hand trying to do that. Still considering a heat shield with dei gold reflective or just applying the tape on the IC

The blanket definitely greatly improved under the hood temps and significantly decreased the IC surface temp. The whole surface was all cold and I felt no temperature variation on either end. Before, the turbo side of the IC was almost too hot to touch. Now only the end tank directly above the turbo is warm to the touch but the fins are absolutely cold.

The blanket is pretty to be honest, I can't see why they couldn't cram a bit more insulation or make it larger

Re: JDM STi intercooler and JDM STi V7 spec C scoop splitter = direct fit

Personally I bought PTP's T3/T4 turbo blanket. It's huge but does a much better job of covering the enormous twin scroll housing. Also, it covers the rod for the wastegate actuator, but doesn't seem to cause any issues in that department.
