Tail of the Dragon (US129) meet?

Went to the 2nd annual boxer takeover last weekend, got to thinking about how cool it'd be to see a group of 9-2x's together in one place.  It's just over an hour drive for me, but I know it'd be a good drive for the majority of people.  Making a long weekend (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun?) makes sense since it's such a drive for some.  There are many roads in the surrounding area that are just as good, if not better, in ways than the Dragon.

Just curious as to who'd be interested.

For those who aren't familiar:

One of the many (but the first) photographers that normally line the road:

Re: Tail of the Dragon (US129) meet?

Handful?  That's the polite word all right.

My seatbelt was off, ready to bail if I dropped a trailer wheel over the edge, flashers on.  Waved by every group that would stack up behind me, whenever I had the chance.  Had to stop and get out of the truck at that bar/restaurant/shop with the huge parking lot at the end - I've only puked twice in my life from adrenaline/fear and that was close to a third.

Fucking Google maps.  No truck or clearance warnings, and by the time I saw the sign to tell trucks to turn around - there was nowhere to turn around.  Good news is that the folks at the NOC gave me some huge props for my big brass balls.  Never once crossed the center line, I might add.

People came from further away than that last weekend lol, but I know not everybody can or is willing to drive that far just for some curvy roads. It really is worth it, though.

Look a little closer noobstick.  All 10 tires inside those lines.  Pic doesn't show I was only going about 10 mph around the bend, and that I was starting to cut the wheel hard to the left.

You're welcome to try it yourself some time.  Dodge 3500 duallie, crew cab and a 26' trailer.

When I stopped in that big lot at the end, a burly biker walked up to me, I thought he was gonna kick my ass for wrecking their run.  Stuck out his hand and said "Put 'er there, boy - yer a trucker now!"

Just giving you a hard time.  I would never attempt that, I have a hard enough time on my bike.

Re: Tail of the Dragon (US129) meet?

lol

Awesome.

In somewhere around 2001, Killboy caught another canoe trailer on the Dragon - this one had crashed, though.  I remember seeing the pic, and he tol' me'bout eet when I ran into the dude at River Trail Outfitters in Knoxville about a month after my run.
