Amazing Asian's 9-2x Aero

Hey all! Recently aquired a 2005 Saab 9-2x Aero in blue with a 4EAT Trans from a fellow member on here  big_smile

Here she is after I picked her up with my 04 WRX that I sold to my little brother with 197k on her:

https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/q71/s720x720/942980_152458611603430_1779792409_n.jpg

Went ahead and installed Rally Armor mudflaps w/Blue lettering, had to modify them with another hole since it didn't line up perfectly to our holes from the WRX chassis.

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/lightneo2002/2005%20Saab%209-2X%20Aero/1015155_10152891344860144_317247556_o_zps775f59a2.jpg

From the paperwork I received it said it needed the cv boot replaced since it had torn. Had Outback Auto in Auburn replace the driver front axle....which wouldn't come out due to a bad wheel bearing lol. Come to find out also the passenger front was torn as well so got that replaced at the same time to save some money  big_smile

Took her on the Seaside cruise last week to play around on the beach:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/q77/s720x720/1016303_166000380249253_884686981_n.jpg

Got to play in the water too! (Don't worry, I washed her off right when we headed back home from all the salt water/sand)

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/q71/s720x720/1011912_165247353657889_906231034_n.jpg

I went to a buddy's house and got the oem uppipe decatted so now it spools a bit quicker..still lacking power compared to my stage 2 18psi tune with an Invidia catless DP, 3in ANSA CBE, and GrimSpeed EBCS. That thing was too loud after awhile and the drone in the cabin was getting annoying, especially since I was starting to carpool every other week with her. Now I'm shopping around for a quieter setup after I go stage 2 for the Saabaru. Going to use the same Invidia catless DP, but keeping the STI CBE on it currently in case I do like it with that.

Also looking for a nice wheel/tire setup. Not looking to go any lower than Epic Engineering springs. Had those on my WRX and loved them since they removed quite a bit of fender gap, without hurting too much of the ground clearance/driveability factor. Wife said I can do something like this as long as I'm not this low big_smile :
http://timtamtan.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/3094265747_915968d205_o.jpg

Any info is greatly appreciated on wheel/tire setups w/o rolling fenders or over cambered. Looking for that aggressive autocross look, not into the low and slow scene that's going on right now, sorry!

Re: Amazing Asian's 9-2x Aero

Is that seaside cruise a regular thing? I'm looking for an excuse to take mine out to the beach too. If you have concerns about your cabin noise, you can look at my build thread (It's in modifications). I have some pretty easy deadening tips in there, and should post the last of my notes this afternoon. I had a buddy with a WRX sedan with a quieter exhaust than mine ride with me yesterday and he said my wagon with the beastly Nameless exhaust is now quieter than his, so I guess it's doing its job.

Regular as in annual  tongue Last year I didn't go but they had 150+ people, this year was 80. I'll look into the sound deadening!

Lol don't worry, I went to a car wash with undercarriage spray nozzles and washed her the same day.

Went and had a set of Epic Engineering springs installed today at PIA big_smile

I scrape my plastic undertray on taller speed bumps now though.

Just waiting for the Big NW Subaru meet for epic deals on parts. On my list is a rear sway bar, Invidia catless downpipe, possible CBE, and stage two tune either at Cobb or PIA

Re: Amazing Asian's 9-2x Aero

Woke up to a flat tire this morning so had to have my car pool buddy drive me today (not his week to drive). Came home early and took the tire to Les Schwab, they said there are 3 holes in the sidewall, probably from when I drove it when it was completely flat/sitting all day. So purchased all 4 new Toyo Proxes 4+ tires:

Size of these are now 225/45/17

Got compliments on how they fill to the fender from the workers at Les Schwab too. Also how they've never seen a Saabaru before

Re: Amazing Asian's 9-2x Aero

Sad update, woke up this morning to the same tire (driver front) low. Wife takes it to les schwab and they notice 7 puncture marks on the sidewall. We got a $50 discount on a new tire though. Really hate low lifes, two days in a row that my tire is slashed/stabbed.

Edit: Been checking the tire pressure since she got it back new every couple hours to make sure it's not a bad/bent/slow leaking wheel.

Re: Amazing Asian's 9-2x Aero

Wife actually took the step up and parked my car for me when I got home(I carpool), in the car port since I let her park there since her car is newer, 2012 Kia Forte SX. She also went out and got a wifi security camera with infrared setup already in the window looking right at our parking spot. With our stock alarms, is there any way to turn it off w/o a key fob? We only have 1 working fob right now and sometimes I lock the car with the windows down, but open the car lock manually from the inside and the alarm goes off, any way to turn off w/o the fob?

Re: Amazing Asian's 9-2x Aero

Upgraded from stock mirror to auto dimming w/compass. It's a bit loose due to the metal spring, I tried bending it, is there a place where we can purchase a new one?

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/lightneo2002/NCM_0171_zps5a2f38e7.jpg

also purchased another key fob due to only having one when I purchased the car. Love the buttons on the key, compared to the stock one.

I think it's just the neighborhood we're in. It's starting to go downhill as of late. Yesterday someone had their apartment broken into and some other people had their tires slashed. Not sure if it's the times we're living in or what. Really wish we could move into our own home soon.

These kinds of crimes are usually the territory of teenagers. Thoughtless nuisance, some theft and mostly just brainless damage. Not like that should make you laugh it off just my experience.

It was an SCCA Rallycross hosted event at some guy's cow pasture  lol down in Tenino, WA. It was a .8 mile course. They want to make it into a monthly thing too. Here's some more photos of it.

Went and installed the LED interior lights with license plate lights from autogoody.com for only $20. Photos doesn't do it justice with how bright they are in person! They are Xenon white, look blue in the photos:

LOL, that was pretty funny that they posted that on the other thread. No clue why he made it such a big deal though. Brother wasn't upset and was content on paying the asking price I wanted too.

It looks good. I've been contemplating to do the stripped roof rails for mine, it's good to see them on a darker colored car.

Those struts open that hood weirdly high, more room for wrenching.  up What is that thing on your front plate? (uptop)

Thanks. I like the stripped roof rails. The black item on the front plate is my good to go pass, you either get the license plate mount or a sticker for your front window for toll bridge/rads.
