Haas F1

Not quite sure what to think of Gene Haas gaining an F1 entry.  Nice to see an American team, but I fear they will be relegated to backmarker status.

2015 entry  up if they can pull it off

Based in Kannapolis, North Carolina  down nothing like NASCAR country to give it the high tech, state-of-the-art atmosphere.

Dallara chassis  down They can't even make a decent Indy car chassis

Mercedes or Ferrari power  up down confused One's dominate now, the other has a long history of outstanding power plant

Any guesses on who he'll select as drivers?

Re: Haas F1

I don't know anything about him or his NASCAR track record, but I'm excited to see an American team. I wonder if Alex Rossi is up to snuff to be a driver. They could be a Force India or Sauber (last year) small team, or a new HRT.

Re: Haas F1

arrow-up  Marco's back in Indy cars.  But he has a connection with Haas and sponsorship (not sure if his sponsors see themselves as needing world exposure tho, especially at F1 costs.)  And yeah, Rossi would be a better driver choice, just not sure if he can pony up the cash.

Re: Haas F1

No Marco, I'm not sure F1 could handle that level of whining. eek

I think one of the Busch bros. might be a dark horse, especially since Kurt Busch already drives Haas's car in NASCAR, will drive in the Indy 500, and has proven himself fast in just about anything he's driven, including a NHRA Pro Stock drag racer.  Kyle Busch has some insane car control, and was rumored to be headed to a Toyota F1 car a few years back until NASCAR stopped them.  But both of them are a little too "big" for an F1 car so that might be an issue.  Plus I want to see the engineer's face when they tell him that the car is tight in, loose out, and he needs a little more drive on exit. biggrin
