i blew my engine

so 3600 mile sinto having my 92x linear, i threw a rod bearing in my motor, lots of knocking, good stuff, covered under warranty, and i got a free rental car, woo.
basically, it sucks now cuz its taking so long. they almost didnt do it under warranty because of excessive tread wear, incase you dont know me, i drive my carharder then anything in the entire world.

my sales guy was like "dan, how in the hell are you driving your car" "exactly how you guys advertise", he was speachless. but whatev, i owned them. free engine.

Wow!  Thats fantastic!  You abuse the car and have the dealership fix it under warranty and you're proud of it?  roll

You must have done some pretty stupid shit to throw a bearing at 3600 miles.

Re: i blew my engine

well, some of you are thinking "omg you dont know how to shift", im actually a very knowledgable driver. I canyon every day for atleast 2 hours for practice, and my dad is an SCCA instructor for autox and audiclub and bmw usa track events, so i get lessons all the time. ive driven mroe canyons than anyone i know. my last BMW(89 325iS) i had for 1 year 2 months, went through 5 sets of tires and put 10k on the motor.

I guess you can say im an avid driver smile anyone in socal ever wanna canyon or cruise, lemme know cuz i am ALL the time.

-dan

p.s., my driving isnt neccessarily 'stupid shit', i think its more a long the lines of 'consistence', cuz i am  ALWAYS driving canyons, atleast 3-6 runs a day. I never redline the engine, but when i canyon, its between 4k and 5800 the whole time, so i guess some of you may object to it, i just find it funny how we sold my BMW because we(my dad) thought it wouldnt be reliable in school next year with 205k on the motor(especially the way i drive it), and then we get the saab...and i broke in the engine 1200 miles..then on the 3686 mile...engine blows..i laughed..

LOL! You need to learn how to drive or you will be dead before you reach 21.  A) Don't cross the damn DY, B) you spun because you either let off in the turn or tapped your brakes, and C) keep it on the friggin pavement, you are just dragging gravel and crap onto the street.

Re: i blew my engine

spoiled little kid. dont expect your posts here will get any praise. youll only get sympathy from your cronies on united. by the way, i am coming from an e30 as well, not to put down that car, but the saab is just a different animal. just because you beat the fuck out of your daddys shit, doesnt mean that its not well made. someone should forward some of your posts to saab, it will keep our costs down.

Re: i blew my engine

i didnt spin my car at the end, that was my friend.
I am not putting saab down at all. and btw, your E30 is sick. and it isnt my daddy's car, i baught and paid for my E30 myself, along with my saab. just quick question for your E30, that thing Euro spec? looks like looking at the bumpers and the rims, looks awesome, 15inch BBS's = sick. I had some nice Ronal LS's on mine. definetly awesome.

p.s.
im not expecting praise or anything, nor do i want t bash on these cars or anything. i was just saying a story.

How is the traffic on Angeles Crest Hwy? I'm moving to Palmdale in a month and have a bunch of friends that live in Pasadena. Is it a easy drive?

I work in Pasadena, and we had a guy that lived in Palmdale and drove that route everyday to work...save lots of time...and funner too (depends what car you drive)

Traffic not too bad...just watch out for CHP

Cheers,

I really doubt that it was anything dan did. Sometimes $!t happens. I've had race cars that have gone 3 years without a rebuild & that motor was shifted at red line EVERY time. I had a new 69 VW Bug that threw a rod going 35mph. You just never know. Glad they warrantied it for you dan. smile

Re: i blew my engine

man, that video was a little disturbing.  i hope you dont live anywhere near me.  seriously.
you may not care about your own safety, but what about all the cars & cyclists that you passed with no regard for thier well being.  i dont mean to sound like a grumpy old man.  but serously, you need to grow up.  it would have only taken a tiny error to have taken out one of those cyclists.  As someone who is on his bike every day, i have very little tolerance for people who drive like morons around me.  there have been numberous accidents lately of careless drivers plowing over cyclists.

Re: i blew my engine

In response to Argylesocks, i understand what your saying completely, and am all for what you are saying. A lot of my friends, cut lines, and act retarded when they drive. Hell, my friend just got ARRESTED and car impounded cuz he cut a line, hit someone, and got in but trouble, i was actualy behind him, with a camera on my car, but i boned out cuz i didnt want to get screwed over, it was like 4 days after i turned 18 also...definetly would have been a big bust.

but back on topic, i NEVER cut lanes unless i can see ahead of me(meaning im not retarded and i DONT cut lanes on blind turns), im actually one of the more cautious drivers, i dont do anything stupid.

I mean, driving canyons at the speeds i do, people may consider 'stupid', but im honestly a very carefull driver, i know these roads like the back of my hand, i know the cars limits better then anyone around me, i know my own skills and limits and dont test them, i can have plenty of fun within those boundaries.

I may drive and pass people in illegal areas in mideans on highways..lol..BUT thats besides the point, i dont do that anymore, and if i did, i wouldnt do it unless i knew it was safe for me and for others..and terrible as passing in the median of a highway sounds..you CAN do it without being stupid..

Im sure you are like "what in the- you are retarded Dan".
But im not arrogant, or ignorant. I understand what you're saying, my dad is a cyclist, i am somewhat of a cyclest, and i i do care about how I and others driver, cuz im NOT the only car on the road, and id hate for another car to hit me while they are doing their own speed run.

Anyways, enough of my preaching. Im just saying that i understand what you are saying, and i agree with you 100%, but also saying that what i do, i dont do wrecklessly, and everything i do is thought through. End of Story.

I love you
