Slippage in high rpm's

Only at certain times in high rpm's the car seems to not have power.  Once I let off and punch it again everything grabs fine.  The rpm's do not spike but I don't feel any power gain.  This happens around 5 1/5 grand.  Just wondering if anyone has has similar problems. I recently did timing belt and the clutch feels fine.

Car has 110k on it, turbo back, intake and a pro tune(the tuner also tuned in launch control)
Could launch control be engaging on it own?

Thank you

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

Could be a fueling issue.  You said the RPMs don't rise, but do they drop?

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

No they don't drop they rise a little bit,  but they don't spike out of control.

I only have about 25k on my spec stage 1 clutch(but some of the most recent revues I've seen in te people have not been to happy)
Also the dyno charts number were 235whp and 230tq.

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

Video would be helpful - maybe the clutch slipping in higher gears? Mine did a similar thing to what you seem to be describing before I had to replace mine, although with only 25k on the clutch I'd hope that's not the issue.

Hey guys.  We ended up getting some freezing rain so I could go take it out and do some pulls but as soon as the weather gets better I'll have a video.  Thanks to all for the responses

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

Or you could do the stall test.

Set the P-brake.

make sure nothing is in front of you

Try to start out in 5th gear.

If the car stalls, clutch is good.
If it doesn't stall, you've made a bad clutch worse.

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

sounds like mine did when i loaded the wrong map a week ago, and was overboosting. do you have a boost gauge? if any vacuum hoses to the wastegate are split then it wont open and it will miss at high boost.

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

Hey guys.  Car has not done it since that day and is still running fine.  I did a 2nd gear pull and put into 5th and rpm's did bog down so that makes me think clutch is ok because they didn't slip and rise right?.  And I ordered a boost gauge it should be here in a couple days.(probably should have gotten on right after it got tuned). I got inspection coming up soon so I'm gonna have a shop do a full look into it.  But as of now everything seems fine.  Thanks for all te responses.

"RPMs did bog down?" What does that mean?

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

Meaning the car felt like it wanted to stall.  If the clutch was slipping wouldent the rpm's spike if the clutch was not grabbing?  Kinda new to trying to figure stuff out on my own ha

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

Sounds like your issue may or may not be intermittent, in either case, may I suggest stop beating on your car (launch control? really?) and just drive it sensibly until you have another transmission and clutch replacement on hand, or until you have a better diagnosis on what the issue actually is.

Re: Slippage in high rpm's

I don't beat in it.  The tuner told me he tuned that in after he was done.  And I've only used it once just to test it out.  And that's what I'm doing it going to the shop this weekend.
