Ixiz is rolling on the 92x again

For 2 years I have been leasing the Nissan Leaf and starting next week I will be back full gas on my 92x

First off the springs and shocks starting to show its age and will be replaced
So any recommendations for daily drivers for the shocks and springs
Drop 0.5-0.8" and not too stiff please

Thanks in advance

Re: Ixiz is rolling on the 92x again

Taking this immediately off topic, but how did you like the Leaf?  I'm looking at picking up a used one since they are going for stupid cheap prices (~12k) for a 3 year-old car, and the range of an electric vehicle will easily meet my normal commuting needs.

KYB makes a Strut called the Ultra SR which is supposed to replace STi struts and is available in a wagon specific fitment.  You can find them through RockAuto and they ship from Europe

For springs I think Swift is the only one who seems to still be making wagon specific with a mild drop and spring rate increase (also RCE, but they may be a little more aggressive)

Re: Ixiz is rolling on the 92x again

Mach V springs are perfect for what I was looking for. Approximately the same drop you want and a ride that is close to stock comfort. Struts are next for me. Probably going the Excel-G route as they're supposed to mate up well with the Mach V.

Good to see you around again, Ming.
I too am considering a Leaf soon, or when ever I get my next car.  I commute 7mi round-trip to work and I have a charging station.  free "gas" is very tempting, as is a really good parking spot.

Can you share your likes, dislikes, etc.

Re: Ixiz is rolling on the 92x again

Just some food for thought, after spending a lot of time looking into shocks and springs, I ultimately went with ST V1 coilovers, made by KW with the same internals, just galvanized vs INOX steel housings. So far really enjoying them.

Previous owner of my car had put on Excel-Gs with Epic springs, and while the car had a nice stance, it was much too soft and under-damped, way too much roll in corners to inspire confidence. With the STs the car is actually lower than it was before, but much more usable since things are stiffer and better damped.

If dead-set on struts and springs, Koni inserts with RCE wagon blacks were going to be my choice, but the total price ends up being more than ST coilovers, which pushed me in that direction.

Re: Ixiz is rolling on the 92x again

The Excel G's just kind of suck.... The older models had more dampening, but I've seen this with both Subaru/Saabaru and for my 9-3ss... the newest version are way too soft for a sport spring.  They don't even offer a different strut for the Linear and Aero versions.

Ming, I want to ask you about your air / oil seperator.  What's the benifits?  Anyone installed,  got reviews?

Re: Ixiz is rolling on the 92x again

The ixizAOSep is compact and full of advance channeling (no media to replace nor deteriorate) to separate air from oil coming from both your crankcase and heads. The drain port will return the oil back to your engine so that you do not loose any oil.

If you are running high boost you will most likely expose your intake system with oil vapor.  This will most likely occur under hard driving.  This is due to more compressed air bypassing the rings.  This is one reason why there is significant amount of oil loss in between race and oil changes

IxizAOSep prevents the oil from getting ingested by your turbo and into your intake, which will greatly reduce the efficiency of your engine (reduce octane, engine knock, timing Iamchris,..).

The system requires no drilling and can easily bolt on to both TMIC and FMIC vehicles. The compact unit can be placed in various locations (depending on your engine setup).

Don't want to get any timing iamchris...
