my fuel light goes on pretty much around the 360 mile mark, so if my dealer was correct when he told me the light goes on and there's still 2 1/2 gallons in the tank, then i'm pretty consistantly around 26 mpg. Oh, and fwiw, my car just hit 70k and I did get to 400 miles on one tank 2 tanks ago.
400 miles?!
Is that ALL highway? I just got 290ish, but I had been doing axis spins like it was my job with all this snow we got in Buffalo, and I didn't think that was too bad.

The most I got out of a tank was 360. 100% highway driving on a long road trip 75mph. I put in just under 14Gal's to fill the car back up. So just under 26 mpg. I typically get about 300 - 320 a tank. When I drive all city, I get 200miles out of a tank.

MPG is something I vow never to keep track of- until we're in a Mad Max world.
Neither would I if I drove a RX-8.
What a great car in need of a 2.3 turbo. Mazda, why... why will you not make the car what it could be!

Last week it snowed a crap ton here in the Seattle area. Not only was I everyone's sherpa, I am also a pretty big fan of empty parking lots, throwing snow and making my female passengers scream, so on that tank I got my lowest ever, 16.8 or so...

huh, if aero gas mileage is this low, what does a small awd suv (i.e. acura rdx, chevy trailblazer, etc.) get in these conditions?
just curious, I don't know much about suv gas mileage, and my linear gas mileage is usually in the upper 20's (used to be consistently 30 when I lived outside the city and mostly drove town/highway miles)

I get 18 - 22 mpg. The previous owner always got like 25-26...

I got 29.2 MPG from this weekend's trip, 240 miles in 8.2 gallons. The only likely reason. The roads were heavily patrolled, so my average 2 way speed dropped to 70 MPH according to the GPS unit.

I have no idea but I bet it would be a scary number with my style of driving. Recently me and my dad were looking at a 2004 Range Rover HSE for him for a great price, but after looking more into it, it's a V8 rated at 11 city/15 highway and gas prices won't be this cheap forever.

After always getting 16-17 mpg in city driving, I decided to see if I could get the 92x Aero highway mpg of 26. So I filled up the car and drove Only on the highway and open roads for around 120 miles. I averaged 35 mph to 60 mph (depending on the speed limit). After I filled up again and checked my mpg. It came out to 26.6 mpg.
I feel relieved. At least I know that my low mpg is due to stop and go city driving and not due to a defect in the car.
It was the same with my 1993 Integra LS. On the highway, it got 29-30 mpg. But when I got my new job in town, even the Integra's mpg dropped to 16-17 mpg in stop and go city driving.

Weird. I got 27 mpg in my 96 Integra LS in both the city and highway. I could never get it to change. Take sideroads to school - 27mpg. Take highway to school - 27mpg.
*edit* Whoops, this is a fabrication. I got that fuel economy whether I drove it hard, or if I was conservative. I did get different fuel economy on city/highway driving.

It depends for me whether I'm driving highway or city but I usually seem to get 17 to 21 mpg mixed in the two. I drive a lot o city but also do a lot of highway

Talking to another Aero owner in my general region (at an autocross actually), he gets about the same as I do. Open road 4 lane highway (like a long trip), about 26 MPG, local driving (there really is virtually no true stop and go around here, so no city) 22-23 MPG.

Lowest MPG from full to empty - 9mpg - 125 miles
normal MPG from full to empty - 24 ~ 25.5mpg ~320 miles
highest MPG from full to empty - 30mpg - 400 miles

how is that possible? What speed do you drive at, like 45 mph in 5th gear?
I broke 27 mpg once ever.

I usually get 24-ish mpg. Sometimes 21 or worse when i drive somewhat aggressively. I've also gotten it to break 25 when babying it. When I bought the car, I got it in GA and road tripped it back to NJ, got 29-30 mpg on that trip.... fresh stage II tune, cruise control between 65 and 75 mph depending on the state.
Offline
I'm routinely ~24-26mpg. All highway, it goes way up to over 30 if i run a couple of tanks through it. 93 octane.

Usually just set the cruise around 65. Commuting to work the speed limit is only 55 so that probably helps, plus I try to keep it out of boost unless I want to have fun.

Less gas is used the faster your sustained speed is. imho

I avg about 18.5-19 with mostly driving through the streets of Brooklyn. Lately, with more highway driving i had almost 23. I have a heavy foot, or so I've been told by those who ride with me.
My highest was 25 almost 26 when taking a drive to Maryland from Brooklyn mostly on cruise control with a car full of people and my trunk full of luggage.

Usually Im getting about 25 with a heavy foot but on the last road trip I ripped off 29.815 for 700 miles
Offline
I average 23, and I commute on back roads. I'm anxious to see how an all turnpike commute will alter the mileage after I move.
