Re: vf39 wanted

Be open minded, if you find a good 16G you should also consider it, good luck.

Re: vf39 wanted

I believe you get protection through Paypal assuming you didn't specify "gift" - was it from here, Nasioc, or elsewhere?

Never send money as a gift when buying from someone you don't know.  ALWAYS send as purchasing goods/services.  Yes, they get hit with a fee, but it gives you protection.

How does that prevent a scam like the OP experienced?

Re: vf39 wanted

I'm going out on a limb here, but i have a feeling its to prove they actually have the goods theyre advertising. pictures of specific things with frozen foods and photographers feet in them are hard to just "google up."
A neat idea, who ever came up with it.

It doesn't stop someone from taking the buyer's money and not shipping the item (see OP situation).

Well now that I've been vouched for, hit me up if you are interested via PM, or I can PM you my email address so you can see that I'm a real person. I haven't made a part-out thread yet but a drunk driver hit and destroyed my Saabaru, so I have a low miles, excellent condition VF39 (and tons of other stuff) that I want to start getting rid of ASAP.   unamused sad

That'll be my last plug on here, I promise.

Regarding the scam situation, it might be worth reaching out to PayPal anyway... did the scammer ask you to process the transaction as a personal payment? If so, and you have a screenshot of that interaction (not sure if it was via forums or email, or what), that might help you show them that the other person had malicious intent.

Sucks though - anyway, whether you choose to work with me or not, best of luck finding a turbo. You will NOT be disappointed once you finally get everything together and get it out on the road for the first time  driving

Re: vf39 wanted

If you used a credit card to fund the transaction thru PayPal you can dispute the cc charge and end up ok. If you transferred the funds out of a personal bank account to fund the transaction you are probably fucked. I always fund that type of purchase with an American Express card, something goes wrong, I just call Amex and let them do their job. PayPal sucks, you need the additional protection of a credit card to make sure you are covered on risky internet purchases.

Re: vf39 wanted

I would pursue this quickly. The beauty of paypal is that while the money may be gone from your account it is still sitting in the other person's paypal account. They will have to wait a few days for that to process before they can withdraw or move that money to their bank account. That being said, if they sent you a bogus paypal account, you're boned. GL getting this resolved.
