What comes to mind from early childhood on the regular?

Any time I spell the word friend I have a memory from 3rd grade. We had a spelling bee and one of my classmates spelled friend incorrectly (freind). I distinctly remember the teacher saying " There is no "in", in friend. Also whenever I spell together, I remember a classmate telling me that there are 3 words in it to-get-her.

Does anyone else have a trigger that brings them back to grade school or younger?

Not from childhood, but every time I go to spell beautiful I think of Bruce Almighty when he says B-E-A-utiful. Same concept as yours I guess.

My mom taught me there are two r's and two s's in embarrass by telling me a "bar as" wouldn't embarrass you but a "bare (~barr) ass" would.

I always used to-get-her mas well.

Nothing to do with spelling, but I was having a conversation with a friend about our earliest memories.  Mine was pulling off a sweet ass wheelie on my bike all the way across the road when I was around 4 years old.

I still use Wed-nes-day when spelling it out.

I was trying to text that the other day messed it up. So I butchered and just let auto correct figure it out.

HA most definitely same here. Who knew that line would be so useful?

I totes do the wed-nes-day thing. I also do goo-ah-ran-tee for "guarantee."

On the first day of fourth grade my teacher told us a very important word to her was "relevant." she explained it and how it relates to learning by asking relevant questions.

So that word always brings me right back to that hallway outside her classroom.

I still think of my 8th grade classroom and the "Word of the Week" we had up on the wall whenever I hear the word "conundrum"

Also in 3rd grade our eventual valedictorian spelled supercalifragilisticexpialidocious correctly for extra credit. Which I just had to Google so I could put it here.

Does anyone else have childhood memories that don't revolve around spelling?!

At nearly 40, I still can't carry scissors up or down stairs without hearing my grandmother telling me how to do so safely.

Re: What comes to mind from early childhood on the regular?

My grandfather didn't have a farm but he always had some kind of animals there, generally a some pigs and a goat. My brother and I loved to go there because one of the goats name was Shithead. We were so excited we could say it without getting in trouble. My grandmother wasn't happy that my grandfather named named him that though.

Every time I smell the Glade Hawaiian Breeze air freshener, it reminds of my childhood friend's computer room in his basement.  Brings back good memories of Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Re: What comes to mind from early childhood on the regular?

Every time I pour a bowl of cereal for my daughter, or myself, the image of sitting in front of the TV on Saturday Morning to watch cartoons comes to mind. God damn I miss that. And toys in cereal.
