Saab 92x export to UK

Hi, has anyone thought of exporting a 92x to Europe (UK) or actually done it, they might be worth a bit of money due to their rarity and fun value of Subaru underpinnings and engine (to the best of my knowledge they were never sold in Europe), but would they be worth enough to cover export costs, taxes, homolegation work etc. I suppose same would go for a 94x but these would be more expensive....would be interested to hear Saabists views as thinking of doing it. See if you can look up our member Tribbe.  He is from Sweden, and has a 9-2x, so has been down this road.  Haven't seen him around here for a while, though.

Re: Saab 92x export to UK

It would probably be cheaper, and less legal hoops to jump through, to just buy the 92x front end and install it on a EUDM wrx. The rear end would require body work to adapt the tail lights, but overall I'm guessing less than what it would take to import one.

This is my Saabaru. There are many like it, but this one is Mine!

I was under the impression that the tail lights were the same shape as the quarter panels. There have been WRX wagon to 9-2x tail swaps done before - it required the tail gate, bumper cover, and tail lights to be done. The biggest difference between the two being the location of the number plate - the WRX mounts on the bumper, the 9-2x has it on the tail gate. Otherwise, it's a direct bolt-on affair - much like the front end swap (which is actually more complicated due to the requirement of having to change the radiator support).

The tail light shape difference was also noted on the inner portion of the lens - several NASIOC members attempted just a light swap without success due to the shape.
