Top Gear 'America'?

Soooo I saw an announcement that there are plans for yet another attempt at an American Top Gear, this time called 'Top Gear America' vs. Top Gear US, brought through BBC America vs. History Channel and with 3 new hosts.

I no understand. The reason these shows fail is when there is a lack of chemistry between the presenters. Continuing to throw new hosts together is not the right solution for that... And also, very original, the new hosts are a car-guy celebrity, an auto journalist, and a race car driver. facepalm

If anything, I'd like to see Rutledge, Tanner and Adam make a comeback since once they got the Top Gear US wrinkles ironed out I enjoyed that show with those hosts. Rutledge posted yesterday on instagram in response to this announcement that the three of them were working on something - Grand Tour US? haha.

Thoughts?

Re: Top Gear 'America'?

Top Gear US was unwatchable for me at least.

I'll give it a try because New Top Gear UK 2.0 has had a strong comeback.

Yea I'll give it a go as well, not sure I have much faith in the presenter combo though.

I think hating on Top Gear US was the easy thing to do but I thought after they removed the studio/celebrity/star in a reasonably priced car sections and just focused on a single adventure with the 3 of them for each episode I enjoyed it. Granted that was probably 3 seasons in that it became bearable but by the 6th for sure I thought they were in a stride with chemistry and the episodes they were producing.

Re: Top Gear 'America'?

For me it's Clarkson, May, & Hammond. Everything else is just a copy cat. They are the only ones that have the right chemistry. (Although I enjoy the Motor Trend Head 2 Head episodes)
