LeMans 2014

Thoughts?  Disappointed that Kristensen didn't add to his record, pleased but disappointed at much at the same time. Quite competitive.

Re: LeMans 2014

I'm surprised how unreliable the LMP-HVs were. Even the race winning Audi spent an hour in the pits undergoing repair.  The most reliable HV looked like the Toyota that got crashed.  And it's too bad that they plan on making much of the course dedicated race track rather than public roads after this race.  I think the character of the race is going to noticeably change over the next few years.

Re: LeMans 2014

arrow-up  agreed, although the new fuel restrictions and greater emphasis of reclaimed energy for this years LMP1s appear to have really stretched the establishment (Audi/Toyota) on distance runs and opened the door to "newcomer" Porsche.   And yeah, when safety trumps tradition we have...F1...

Re: LeMans 2014

Didn't follow the event, but have the second half recorded for when I get a little time.

It'll be a shame if they change the course.  One of my more exciting moments motorcycling in Europe was on the way to the LeMans track.  The Motorcycle GP used the short closed course, but we rode there via back roads and passed through the town of Mulsanne.  The public road has giant catch fences and brake markers.  So cool ...

Re: LeMans 2014

Blame the FIA.  Seems as if the only truly classic "road" course left will be Monoco, which will never be changed because...Monoco.

I've motorcycled through the tunnel in Monaco too :-)

I'm OK with blaming the FIA.  Not a problem.
