August 30th cruise to Lake Geneva Update: 9-28

Update: 8-28-2014 Weather looks bad for Sat but good for Sunday so we are moving the date to Sunday. 11 cobras are in...

Hey folks,

So I would like to do a cruise around the IL/WI border, maybe Lake Geneva or something like that.  DaveW and I have been talking (he'll chime in later I'd imagine) and we want to do a cruise around that area.  I hope to be taking the cobra and he'll be taking his new ride… (better start a new thread on that car when it arrives, Dave wink ).  There are some nice roads in that area. Maybe we can cruise, then stop for some lunch, cruise some more then head home.
So far the last week of Aug would be good. I'm off till Sept so I am flexible on the dates. during these last 10 days.

What do you guys think?

Anyways, just a feeler post.

Arno

I'd be up for it Arno.  I'll bring the e46 M3.

Would be nice to catch up.  Maybe Joe would be interested in riding/driving?

I'm not on here much anymore, but if this is looking positive just text me the details and I'm in.

EDIT: August 28-31st i'm in Colorado :-/

Re: August 30th cruise to Lake Geneva Update: 9-28

Should we just commit to the last weekend in august?  I think I'm free either day, so count me in.  I'll ask a buddy I know if he wants to go for a drive (he also has a cobra and an 80's Ferrari).  I'm not super familiar with the Lake Geneva area so I'll do some research.

The last weekend would work for me, but Trent will be gone in CO I guess  hmm

It is also labor I think, but that's alright, might be a few more people on the road. Should be awesome.  I guess we can see as we get closer and evaluate the weather.

Re: August 30th cruise to Lake Geneva Update: 9-28

Hey guys,

Looks like the date for the cruise has been set for the 30th, with the 31st as the rain date.

At first it was just going to be a small get together with CorporateD to check out his new ride and for a nice cruise. Then I mentioned/invited a buddy of mine to come along with his cobra. He in return talked to his other cobra buddy... I went to my cobra club forum and saw that they pretty much invited the whole Windy city cobra club, planned the food stop, and are building a route, haha. That's what happens when two retired guys get an invite for a cruise. In any case it should be fun! We are stopping for lunch at the Lake House Tap and grill, on the lake, then more cruising. We should have at least 3 cobras with a lot more possible.

Here is the message from the cobra forum:

"After discussion with Ralph we agreed the destination will be Lake House Tap & Grill at N2062 S Lake Shore Dr, Lake Geneva, WI 53147.

I am working on a route and will post more later. I will also send out a email to all members with the same information. However all are welcome to join us.

The date is Aug 30 with a rain date of Aug 31. We know this is a holiday weekend, but we are running out of weekends to do any trips.

Lee and Ralph"

Trent, unfortunately that is the weekend you are gone sad We'll get together at another time with the others.
Joe, you are welcome to ride with me, and/or we'll have more spots in others cars too.
Johnmatrix, you should come smile

Anybody else is still very welcome to join us.

Arno

That's the plan.  I will for sure meet you guys for lunch.  Looking forward to seeing you again.  Let's hope this time we're not up to 3 in the morning fixing my car!
