The boy racer look is strong in this one..... love the car and the performance but nearing 40 not sure I could drive that..... maybe in black....

I'm a fan the more fun to drive cars available the merrier. Although I would never buy it; every time I see a car approaching 40k all I can think about is all the used 911s I could get for that money.

I would plasti-dip that RS on the front bumper for sure
I am hoping both this and the Golf R will make Subaru up their game, or at the least, bring back the hatch. If I somehow didn't have the 9-2x in two years I would look hard at this and the Golf R for possible replacements in addition to the STI (maybe the BRZ too, with supercharger kit!).

Lol that's how my brother feels about the ST and he's only 30. He wants a GTI for his next car (drives a 2003 A4 currently).
That was also one of the reasons I went with the Saabaru vs. the equivalent Subarus - the Saabaru is much better looking and more understated.

So subjective lol. I think the GTI screams boy racer.

Reallly???? I think the GTI looks kinda dull honestly. It screams conservative german trying to play boy racer with plaid seats to me.

IMO the gri is the most mature looking inside and out of the hot hatches in the US.
And i like the plan seats.

Well, shit. I guess I won't be owning my ST for much longer. Glad I didn't really invest much into it parts wise..

It really is a shitty interest cost wise.

Ain't that the truth..
I really hope this thing doesn't hit shores for another year or two, as I'd love to build up some more value in my car. I've been working from home for close to a year now, and am lucky to fill up every two or three months. I just cracked 7,500 miles, and I've had the damn thing for almost two years. Should at least put me ahead of the fucking wash of FoSTs bound for the used car lot.

The price difference will be so large that you won't care when it comes out. It won't be worth it.

So much this. I'd wait til you can get a totaled one for a full swap, but make sure you check the spark plugs.

Perhaps, but it's probably best to withhold actual cost to value until final specs, cost, and a couple professional reviews are released. I love the package of the Golf R, the rawness of the STI, and the tech of the Evo. If Ford brings all of this together with a domestic price tag, I cannot imagine how it misses the target. (I'm just predisposed since the ST has easily been the most enjoyable car I've owned.)
We also have to remember that this is Ford, and they have a history in pretty damn deep incentives...

If I could get one down to like $30k before tax&title I'd be all over it. But really I just hope they bring back a WRX Wagon...

Subaru really screwed the pooch by dropping the wagon and keeping their archaic tech. Hopefully Ford eats their lunch, forcing them to retaliate. VW definitely did with the new GTI in response to the ST.

I knew there was a reason I did not want to read this or the FoST thread.
Well, at least I have time to save up for an RS.

I predict base price will be $31,999-32,999. Car will top out at $34,500-36,000.

I hope not. It would be really hard to resist. I'm hoping for 40k so I can have an excuse to prevent me from buying it.

"Babe, I know I don't need to have two cars... But it's like you say, it was such a good price, I had to get it...."

This will be interesting to compare to the Golf R. That starts at $36k, and tops around $40k. I'd like to see a side-by-side moving forward.

$40k is not happening. With the STI and GOlf R more established in the US, the Focus being in the mix now-they will price it about 8-10% less.
