arrow-up Ha, nice. Went to the local cars and coffee this Saturday and two teenagers were lingering around my car talking and pointing at it and the WRX I parked next to. ha, I think I've made it in the car scene now.

Also, when I pulled up at the cars and coffee, another WRX owner came up to me when I got out and said 'hey, clean swap man' to which I had to inform him he was wrong w/ the conventional elevator pitch. ha. Lost track of how many people have said that to me thinking I swapped in a subie motor.

Was that at Katie's in Great Falls?  I haven't been in a few months, but I should get back up there now that I'm on a decent (if not Ferrari) set of wheels.

arrow-up What Rol0 said.  lol

I should really add my state so it doesn't confuse. No, I didn't drive cross-country to a cars and coffee - I live in California. The cars & coffee I'm referring to is in Folsom. big_smile

Re: Love for the Saabaru

Not really related to the Saabaru at all, but today driving north on 101, 2 lanes from the fast lane, I saw an orange 911 GT3 RS coming up fairly quickly in a lane right of the fast lane. I know that all gt3 RS owners tend to like their cars a lot, cause who would ever buy one of those ridiculously uncomfortable cars if you aren't absolutely in love with driving. So, I stuck my thumb out the window to give him a thumbs up as he went by. To my surprise, he slowed down to my speed and rolled both windows down, smiled and did a peace sign! I was excited to be acknowledged. Then, he dropped two or three gears, slipped into the fastlane, and roared off, probably hitting 110 by the time he was hitting the bend up ahead. Gave me an ear to ear smile.

Re: Love for the Saabaru

Hi, I am new to the forum, just bought a Saabaru 2006 Linear MT 77000 Kms on the dial. Looking to "own" the car properly with a few mods.  biggrin

Just wanted to introduce myself. My previous car was a JDM 2002 Legacy TS Type R,  AT wink

Re: Love for the Saabaru

Since I put my eBay exhaust on the car, I am drawing many more stares and confused looks... The whole "looks like a Saab, sounds like a Subaru" thing is great. The Saabaru Technica International stickers on the doors really ice the cake - everyone notices and comments now... I had several people at the local Cars and Coffee give me the thumbs up.

Re: Love for the Saabaru

Yesterday, a guy in a GTI came flying up behind me while exiting the freeway, pulled up next to me and asked what it was. He was like Sweet wr... Wait what is this?? And I quickly told him it's a 2005 WRX with saab bumpers and he was like "tight!!" so I revved it for him.

This morning a white Evo 10 zoomed up next to me and gave a thumbs up! He definitely knew what it was roxor

Re: Love for the Saabaru

Followed a GTI for a little bit on a twisty bit near my house this morning, after things straightened out he gave me a  up. Don't get much int'l love for the Saabaru so that was cool.

Also, got a thumbs up from a guy in a raised off-road ready older N/A Forester last week. Reciprocated the  up

Re: Love for the Saabaru

A few days ago in the tunnel on Broadway I was zooming through making noise and a guy in a prius stuck his hand out the window and pumped his fist, once hit the stop light ahead he was like "NICE SAABARU!!"

Last night a guy parked across from passat boy's house was getting something out of his pristine 840ci, I asked what his tint percentage was and he struck up a conversation using the term Saabaru! We talked for a while about cars which was awesome. He knew everything about everything we brought up roxor

Re: Love for the Saabaru

I had to work late last night and it was dark when I left.  I stopped at a light and wasn't really paying much attention - was a bit spaced out and I glaced over to the car that was in front of me on lane to the left and the passenger was turned around looking at me hard.  I glaced over at the driver and he was doing the same, moving his head around a bit trying to see past his piller.  They were both really staring at "me" and talking to each other.

At first I was thinking to myself, WTF are the looking at.... I didn't think I had cut anyone off or anything.  This went on for a good 5+ seconds and then I said to myself, that kind of looks like a Saab 9-3.  I glaced back at the badge and said yep... a 9-3.

It may well have been the first Saabaru they have ever seen.  I have not seen another Saabaru in Dover, DE where I work...... ever and for sure not a nice and shiny red one.    big_smile I gave them a thumbs up and they starting to smile and nodded their heads and gave me a thumbs up back.

Re: Love for the Saabaru

Friday afternoon I was driving back from GA down 95 south when two guys in a nice older 9-3, who were going to zip by me in the left lane, jumped on their brakes in order to take pics of me. I gave a thumbs up and gave them a nice 4th gear pull as they tried (and failed) to keep up. Another exchange of thumbs up when they eventually did pass me at more legal speeds and we were all on our way.

Im so used to my car I sometimes forget that it is a rarity to others.  92x heart

Re: Love for the Saabaru

The saabaru has gotten love from some non-usual suspects recently.

Guy zooming past on a bike looked back and gave an enthusiastic point and thumbs up
younger guy in a lifted 4runner was eyeing her in traffic one night - I think the subie rumble through him off
And today on the way to work someone in a GLI looked over while passing and then continued to look in the mirror when he passed me.
