Excellent choice man.  I respect guys who think outside the box.  Looks like a really nice car.

Thank you! I'm really liking this car so far. It's not as quiet a cruiser as the Cadillac was, but the interior is the absolute tits. Best smelling leather this side of an Italian exotic. Plus it's pretty speedy and comfortable. And I love all the safety nannies, even if they are a little annoying...the car does feel like an exceptionally safe place to be as the motoring world turns all to shit around me.

It has some annoying issue with the TPMS light being on and a "tire pressure too low" message even though I aired up the tires...no simple way to reset It, either. It'll be addressed under warranty, but I'd hoped to be all done with electrical issues for a while.

I'm hoping to take it to the drag strip within a week or two. Anyone want to guess what I'll run? I've seen times anywhere from 13.5 to 14.5 with these. I'm going to make a really conservative guess that it'll go 14.2. Ideally I'll be in the high 13s, but I'd rather not get my hopes up.

$23,9 plus $1k for the Polestar tune installed at the dealership. It was a helluva deal for a car in brand new condition with only 9k miles on the clock which was optioned up to about $50k new in 2011. So it was an essentially new $50,000 car for half off.  roxor

Haha, yup. That's why I ended up in a Volvo quite unexpectedly. This particular car was sooo much car for the money. You should have seen the well-worn VW beaters I was considering in the same price range. Instead I got a fast-ish luxury car with shitloads of tech for stripped Fiesta ST money.  cool

For those of you who didn't see my post in the "went to the drag strip/ disappointed" thread, I ended up running no slower than 13.9 at 100. After I added 2 gallons of race gas my ETs began to drop and traps started climbing slightly, ending with a best of 13.4 at 103 in on the final run, in humid 70+ degree air and with mediocre 60ft times. This was with half a tank of gas, off-the-street tire pressure, and spare tire in the trunk. With cooler air and further refinement to my vehicle prep and technique, dare I say it might have a 13.1 or 13.2 in it? That puts it tantalizingly close to breaking into the 12s...I think a downpipe and intercooler could get me to a 12.9.

Re: So...looks like I'm getting a 2011 Volvo S60 T6 with a Polestar tune

Bump. So far I've run a best of 13.2 in it, bone stock other than the R-design spec Polestar enhancement tune and about 50% race gas in the tank (added two gallons of RG with about 2 gallons of 93 remaining in the tank).

Mods done since then:Installed a big DO88 FMIC in my driveway about a month ago (man that sucked), lowered it about 3" on KW V3 coilovers, added Powerflex poly inserts to the torque mount, and today I will be picking it up with a 3.5" Ferrita downpipe which a friend has been installing over the past week. I'm hoping these bolt-ons plus cooler air will shave 3 tenths and allow me to hit my target of 12.9 before the drag strip closes at the end of October.

Big vs. original FMIC. Needless to say, it manages heat much, much better. The difference is quite noticeable on the road, and also running consistently at the track.

Re: So...looks like I'm getting a 2011 Volvo S60 T6 with a Polestar tune

That's a massive I/C.  I upgraded the one on my C30, along with all the piping, plus the upper intake manifold.  I used Elevate all the way.  The I/C was bigger than stock:  bigger, but not *that* much bigger.  I mostly felt that on successive accelerations.  Rather than each getting softer, it kept its punch a lot better.  The manifold improved midrange too.

On the C30, the Polestar tune copes with all that except the downpipe.  It still works, but the conventional wisdom is that a replacement downpipe should be paired with an aftermarket tune for optimum benefit.

Looks like you're having fun with it.

Re: So...looks like I'm getting a 2011 Volvo S60 T6 with a Polestar tune

Thanks, unfortunately there aren't a lot of tuning options with the T6 3.0T. Volvo makes its current ECUs very hard to crack and there isn't much of a market for companies to want to spend R&D time figuring these ECUs out. The Polestar tuned ECU seems to adjust a little to make a tiny bit of power with bolt-ons but unfortunately it's designed to maintain a max torque ceiling so there's only so much you can do to boost peak numbers. Anyhow, the new downpipe went in and the car does feel stronger by a little bit, and it certainly sounds meaner at startup and WOT with no major added noise during light cruise. I'm sure it'll break in a bit and we'll see what that does for sound and if the ECU adapts further either to add power or adapt back to stock output. I've only put about 50 miles on it with the new dp (I drove it home from the guy who installed the dp, that's it) so I'm looking forward to my commute tomorrow.

Here are a couple of pics of my car and my buddy's. His is the one with the gunmetal BBS wheels and big front splitter.

Pretty sure that Shark Performance has a tune, but you've already coughed up for Polestar so it'd just be more money.  It will adapt, although you won't get maximum benefit from the downpipe with it.  At least, that's the usual commentary.

If I were getting a car in that size range I would have gone for the S60 without a doubt but recently drove a loaner Jaguar XF 35T that has the same engine and tune as my F-Type (380HP).  It was pretty entertaining, given that it's a five-person sedan.  It's been a while since I've driven an S60, and I think I've only driven T5s.  I'm sure the S60 is the better choice, but I'm not sure that "made the better choice" is one of my hallmarks.

Dig the wheels.  The lip and the tire paint ruin it tho.

Re: So...looks like I'm getting a 2011 Volvo S60 T6 with a Polestar tune

Mine is the one with the all stock body with a few Volvo parts-bin options selected by the former owner (appearance pkg silver cladding, Freja wheels, tint which is likely illegally dark). The only visual mod I've done was to lower it about 2.5-3 inches on KW coilovers. Ya, my friend's car looks good but he took it a little too far. I liked it better earlier on in his build. The wheels were a good choice but the tire paint and the big splitter and rear diffuser are a little much IMO. It's still a great car, and he's using it as a test mule to promote both performance and appearance products for Viva Performance, the online shop he works for. He's basically throwing on every product that they sell for the P3 S60.

Lizzardo, pretty sure Shark does not offer tunes for the P3 S60 3.0T. Our current options are limited to the Polestar tune, or a couple of expensive, sketchy options virtually no one can vouch for. Heico allegedly has some $3,000 tuning suite (no thanks), Rica may or may not have a piggyback setup for about a grand (they are super vague about what's really available and can't offer any customer testimonials) and, well, that's it. Hilton Performance may have something in the works, but it's still very early in the process for them.
