I made the same power on my VF'd 205, was a great balance of performance and reliability. Would be even sweeter with that sexy smooth 207.

Car looks amazing. What was your experience with Snail like? I've been debating wether to go with them or drive down to Cobb in Socal.

Travis is the man, wouldn't hesitate to let him tune your car if I were you.

Good to hear you were happy with him. It's hard because I've had such a poor experience with Paul, and half the people I talk to love FW and love Snail or they hate them with a passion. I think I will tryout Snail for my Stage II tune, and when I'm ready to go Stage III go down to Cobb.

I would trust Travis/snail with any tune. That being said I wouldn't let Paul or fw touch my car. Snail and fw are separate entities; Travis just uses his dyno to tune on while he's out here in CA.
What did Paul do to make you feel the way that you do? I remember warning you about him and his reputation in your thread when your engine problems came about. Sucks to hear he's giving you problems.

After speaking with him briefly on the phone I got the same impression as you. I inquired about having my avcs wiring done because it was the last thing I needed before tuning, and I just didn't want to deal with it after doing all of the other work involved with the swap. Our conversation was very off putting to say the least. I ended up just doing it myself and was glad I did because the quote he gave me was crazy high and I didn't want to give him any business to be honest.

Awesome! if I had any source of income, I'd get that cluster. There's one on NASIOC that is the same mileage as mine, I can't swing $300 though. I prefer the green too.

Been tuned now for a few months and loving it. The 207 is a fantastic engine; smooth revving and just screams up top. It did 277whp at 17.5 tapering to 15 psi on snail's mustang dyno. I asked for a very conservative tune, so there is more in it but it wasn't worth it on shitty 91.
Well done! I used to run a V7 STi spec C motor in my bugeye... Now, having two 255-equipped cars, I would definitely trade some torque for a little refinement. IMO, the 207 is, by far, the best motor Subaru ever made. Smooth as glass, and laughs at big boost. The motor is begging for a bigger turbo, though, because (as you know) the VFs can barely breath at 7k, let alone 8,000RPM.
Tuned in for more!

Thanks! You're right, and a larger turbo/injectors are in the works. What would you recommend for a street car that is a daily? My tuner and I are thinking of doing the proven dom 1.5 xtr with the 8cm hot side for a little bit better spool over the 10cm. I'm good with 350-375whp even tho I know the v7 can take much more.
Plan is to do the turbo, ID 1000s, an inlet and possibly an intake and call it a day. I'm still on the stock 5spd so I can't go too crazy yet.

Your car sounds so bad ass. I hope you can make it to a future Saabaru meet, I'd love to hear that V7 run.

Sounds like a good plan. The 1.5XTR w/8cm^2 will be perfect paired with the 207, you'll have a very wide powerband. 10cm would make more power but be too big, IMO, not worth the trade off unless you're looking for a highway car.
With regards to the 5MT, you should be good as long as you're not launching the crap out of it, or banging the 1-2 shift. With the longer gearing of the 5MT, it's awesome to rev out. I remember hitting 80+ in 2nd gear! Eventually, I did upgrade to a 6MT/R180 setup, but it wasn't out of necessity. Definitely worth it, though, the STi trans and diffs will change the car completely.

The audio quality isn't great (shot in 2005), but here's my old V7 making some noise (and running DCCD full open)

Were you able to keep you heated seats somehow?

Loving the black on bronze. I'm a huge fan of the black/bronze, black/gold, black/copper color scheme on these cars (as well as subies). I'm just hoping to do it with a linear instead of an aero. No hood scoop for me. I like it ultra clean
Also, those seats are sweet. I'm loving those. How comfortable are they? The stock seats are a little narrow for me through the legs; are these any wider?

I didn't try to swap the heating elements over but I'm sure it can be done.

Thanks. I find the seats to be pretty comfortable. They are a little firm, but not too bad. Being Japanese spec seats they are actually narrower compared to the US market sti seats, and definitely smaller than then stock cloth seats.

So you're using the passenger JDM seat? Or did you swap so that you can use the driver's side, and retain full functionality?
Offline
Still using the passenger jdm seat out of pure laziness. I plan on using this write up:http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1868870 when I get around to it one of these days.
