Noobie in MI

What's up everyone? So I went out on a limb and just bought a 06 9-2x aero 5 speed. Got it from craigslist out in Hartland MI. It's black and loaded with heated leather and power sunroof. I don't know much about these cars but always loved the looks of them. I been lurking around here trying to learn and my mind is all boggled up. I owned fast turbo diesels and a turbo integra gsr in the past but this is my first awd car and love it. I have many questions but imma keep reading and learning before I start asking.
Sorry, tried posting the pic of it in my avatar but pic is too big.

Re: Noobie in MI

Thanks. Yeah I'd like to do the usual exhaust, Cobb, wheels, suspension but don't think I wanna lower it cause I like the way it rides now. I'm pretty clueless on what to buy for mods so I just gotta read up. Been listening to exhaust clips and can't find one I like the sound of.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Don't be a wimp - lower it!!!  banana Tein H-tech lowering springs give it a reasonable drop while maintaining a (most-of-the-time) wife approved ride.

What are you looking to spend on exhaust? How loud do you want it? Lots of people dig going to the STI axleback, I went a bit louder. If you check out my PMR thread I posted a video of my exhaust (custom 3" w/ Magnaflow muffler) on the second to last page and NorCal9two posted a video of his exhaust (MadDad whisper) on my PMR thread on the 1st page. That may help.  embeer

Re: Noobie in MI

I know I will prob end up lowering it cause it looks so much better. My turbo teg gsr was really low and it sucked trying to dodge our potholes. I'll def check out the other exhaust posts.  Money really isn't a issue with exhaust either. Just want a nice mellow tone at idle and formula f1 racer when I get on it ha ha. I hate the raspy sound.

Welcome man, car looks good. Lowering is not that bad unless you go extreme. Lots of threads on here with different set up's that might work good for you.

Re: Noobie in MI

Thanks guys. Been reading a lot on here and the wheels are spinning. After I figure out the p0011 and p0021 codes I think I'm gonna sink about 2 to 3 g's on her in mods. Prob power mods than go to suspension. I'm thinking full 3" p&l exhaust, Cobb v3, maybe up pipe, and sti ic.  If I can get gauges in that price range I will def do that too. Whatcha all think. Good or bad decision?

Re: Noobie in MI

With that type of power your tires/rims will be screaming for mercy pretty quick but TBE/tune is not a bad way to go.

I had fords and 1 duramax but my last ford was a single cab short bed. For those who don't know, ford doesn't make the single cab short bed so it was custom made by a well known diesel guy here in mi. He passed last year tho (rip Mike Hallas) I loved that truck too. I actually sold it once and bought it back than sold it again about two years ago. It ran 12.60 when Mike had it but that was with slicks. I ran 13.4 @ 99 when I tried with street tires. Here's a couple pics.

And this was another build by Hallas.  Twin turbo.

I've seen two yesterday, both orange.  One had Hallas on the right rear, the other was orange with a massive stack in the middle of the bed...with the stack tube also orange...

Re: Noobie in MI

Hey, nice to see we actually have some SouthEast MI guys on here,

Any of you have any wheels for sale with decent tires? I just picked my 92x up about 3 weeks ago, been driving it almost 2 weeks now, but 3 of the 4 tires have bubbles in them and i'd like to get these 2000 impreza wheels off

Re: Noobie in MI

I know this is a super old thread but I would like to say that I just got a 2005 Aero and I also live in Chesterfield. Still awaiting the moment when I run into another 92x owner. My twin brother drives an 02 Bugeye and we are competitive on build our cars. http://i.imgur.com/UMhhQkp.jpg
