My 2005 Brilliant Red 5MT Aero

I recently purchased a 2005 5MT aero in Brilliant red from an elderly gentleman. The car has 78k on the clock and is almost completely stock (for now) and in great condition.
I am planning on getting a cobb catback soon and slowly moving on from there as funds become available. I figured I would I would share my ride with some people who need no explanation of what exactly the car is. I go to school in Davis but I am often back home in the Sacramento area (specifically Orangevale). I know there are some active members in that area so I look forward to seeing the other 92-x's around.

For sure I might be interested in hitting up a meet! The rack was on the car when I bought it. I did the grill and took off these door trim strips from the sides immediately.  big_smile

Or under the car.... a rock might have kicked up and scraped something, leading to rust.

Re: My 2005 Brilliant Red 5MT Aero

Well it's been a while since I posted anything but there are a few updates to note now.
I installed a BPM catback exhaust, and got a divorced wastegate dp which will be installed once I get a tuner. While under the car, I learned of a few upgrades that the previous owner did not mention or maybe didn't know of. There is a Perrin rear sway bar and a Megan H brace.  banana I also got some bike racks for my bikes.

Wheels and tires will come soon as well as an accessport. (when I get some $$$$).

Here's how she sits now. Got some saggy butt to take care of as well.

Re: My 2005 Brilliant Red 5MT Aero

If you're getting a custom tune go to Snail Performance out of Rocklin. They're the subie tuning experts in the area. Or are you just doing accessport and off-the-shelf map?

What are you thinking for wheels?

Let me know when you're in town for a weekend - we should meet up at the Folsom Cars & Coffee one saturday morning. I've been going to it more and more in the Saabaru and Charger.

@ikbrown

I am just going to go OTS for now, but yeah I've heard good things about snail performance as well. I actually really like the Assetto Garas like you have but in the matte graphite silver color. I will let you know about the meet. I am actually back in town this weekend but cant make it tomorrow.

Re: My 2005 Brilliant Red 5MT Aero

A few updates on my car. I picked up a v3 accessport and I'm running the stage 1 OTS map for now and I am slowly looking for an sti/wrx catless up pipe.. I also picked up some 17" O.Z  Ultraleggeras for a steal a while back and just now decided to test fit them to get an idea of how it will look. The tires on there were for the outback that the wheels on before and they are 255/55 so obviously I'm not going to drive on them. I do like the look of the wheels though and I can't wait to pick up some dedicated summer tires for them.

I did my timing belt/waterpump/accessory belt replacement myself over my Christmas break and installed the universal RA mudflaps too. I really like the flaps and they are really helpful for when I am up in the snow.

Here is a shot of how I mounted the AP. I disconnected the OBD2 port from the dash and tucked it all inside so I couldn't accidentally hit it.

Re: My 2005 Brilliant Red 5MT Aero

Little update. I had been noticing some brake fade when going for it in the canyons. So I took care of my old mushy brakes and warped front rotors with a nice set of used Subaru 4 pot / 2 pot fixed piston calipers, Stoptech slotted rotors, stainless steel braided lines, and street performance pads, motul rbf600 fluid and necessary Kartboy adapters for the rear. I am loving the performance so far, and they still have some breaking in to do before the pads and rotors reach max breaking performance.  Also loving the look of the red calipers with the paint.
