Oddball Request for the Chi-Town Folks

So it appears I'm going to be in Chicago from March 9th-10th for business, which is posing a challenge to a goal of mine.  I'm trying to get in a bike ride per day for the entire year.  Thus far I'm holding strong, including a business trip that necessitated both a 5AM and 11PM bike ride.  However this schedule is going to make the 10th a significant challenge as I likely won't arrive back in town until after midnight.  I think I can get the 9th taken care of before leaving for the airport, but I could use some help from anyone in the downtown Chicago area.  Staying at the Palmer House FWIW.

I'm not 100% sure how to make this work.  I was thinking about demo-ing a bike at a local bike shop, but the hours could make that tough.  Does anyone nearby have a bike I can borrow for like half an hour?  Or want to go for an early morning ride?

Fuuuuckk, I forgot that some cities are not in the late 18th century like Boise.  Good call JM, station right around the corner.

Re: Oddball Request for the Chi-Town Folks

Yeah those bikes kinda suck, but they work.  My bike is down right now, but I can always do a sweet 3rd gear pull in the FoST right by you if you want.

Re: Oddball Request for the Chi-Town Folks

They look like generic cruisers but they'll get the job done.  Better than relegating myself to an exercise bike, which would require arbitrary modification of my arbitrary goal.

Re: Oddball Request for the Chi-Town Folks

Yeah those bikes are built for utility and built to fit everyone, but hey, they have to be durable. You'll get a workout.

Your hotel location is pretty close to the lake, get a Divvy and hit the lakefront trail, if the weather is ok.  up

Gonna be buttfuck early in the morning but I'll probably head out that way.  I've got cold weather biking gear.

Tried to use Divvy before. The machine froze up so I never ended up riding one.  That's my extent of experience with them.  Cool story huh?

Divvys can handle stairs.  Loud and bumpily, but they'll make it.  Hard to wheelie.

We have two fireplace mantelpieces in our Aspen museum that were originally in the Palmer House.

Re: Oddball Request for the Chi-Town Folks

Justin is confused...

JM, Divvy worked great.  Meh bikes but did the job.  Got about 10 miles in between last night and this morning.

Today's pretty meh but yesterday was a good day to ride.  I'm hoping for everything to start drying up so I can mountain bike but we're supposed to get a lot of rain coming up  unamused

Fair enough, LSD is LSD  big_smile.  I should have brought gloves, fingers got cold, but I wasn't exactly scooting along either.
