HELP! HELP! HELP! Power Steering Pump

My powering steering pump on my 2005  92x Linear went bad and the subaru dealership near me attempted to replace it with three different ones, Impreza, WRX, and STi just to try everything. Apparently all of those are 2 inch pulleys and the Saab 92x has a 2.5 inch! Please help me the only one i could find was $350 and it was rebuilt. The subaru dealership told me the cheapest new one they could find was $675! I think this is outrageous for a power steering pump considering a regular Impreza/WRX one is about 125-145. Please someone let me know if this is correct!

Re: HELP! HELP! HELP! Power Steering Pump

I haven't messed with mine since it was replaced under warranty, but could you just swap the pulley off the old one?

Re: HELP! HELP! HELP! Power Steering Pump

The power steering pump is identical to the same year/model Subaru. The dealership is playing dumb.
Did you try just replacing the o-ring on the top hose inlet on your original pump?
You can also buy a rebuild kit from an earlier year Subaru and use most of the parts to rebuild it

What this guy said. I will say that the rebuild isn't the worst thing to tackle, but it's time consuming, and you need to make sure you have all the right gaskets and O-rings.  Check that -14 o-ring on top as that is usually what goes bad. It's the o-ring on the elbow joint.

I've got a power steering pump lying around that works. I can't remember if I replaced the o-ring for the elbow joint, but I know the pump itself works. PM me if interested.

Orrrr, just buy the kit from these guys with everything you'll need (if you don't take the pump apart) :

Re: HELP! HELP! HELP! Power Steering Pump

I recommend replacing the bendy hose with the foam sheath (shown in that link: http://www.fastwrx.com/collections/oem- … repair-kit)
and then you can buy a specific o-ring seal kit

I have only ever seen 1 power steering pump actually BREAK. 99% of the time its just leaking and sucking in air
