Re: 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero. Conplete STI swap. $14.5

Don't worry about the haters- Great car. I saw it before I bought mine when it was listed a 19k. Too bad, at 16.5k we could of probably negotiated something!

Besides you don't see sti wagons. Im dropping the price.   Respectively to 15.5k.

I'd change the thread title to reflect the new price, as this is pretty hidden in the thread.

Getting closer to a reasonable price. I know from swapping out my own engine and drivetrain things add up fast.

This car is clean and well done. All you guys hating on him should hope he gets top dollar and should stop degrading his potential to sell...

I'm can identify with the OP, as I have a very good idea how much time and money he has invested. This shit isnt cheap, especially if a well respected shop did the work. We all know mods dont add up to a high asking price blah blah blah...This car  is way more built than some basic bolt on mods you and your uncle jimmy threw on over the weekend, and the asking price reflects that. Some careful thought and planning went in to this build, along with a shit load of money, and if i were in the OP shoes i sure as hell wouldn't be down to give my car away for pennies either.

Re: 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero. Conplete STI swap. $14.5

This looks to be a very very nice car that a lot of time, money, and effort went into. Had this shown up a year and half ago might've ended up buying it myself.

People who've done substantial work to their car know you're lucky to make back half of what it actually cost to put it all together, and can appreciate the value of buying a completed project where everything appears to have been done well and is all sorted already. But these folks usually already have the car they plan to keep, or don't want another one.

As a word of advice to the OP: rather than saying things like "This is essentially an STI from Japan and is very rare" and "Literally is like a new STI under the body" which don't help your cause very much, post underbody pictures of your car on a lift (if you don't have them already) and take the attitude that your car is special to you, and you need to find a cash buyer who'll think it's special enough to pay what you want too. Give a potential buyer a clear story of all the hard work you put in, and why you're selling it. You don't sell a car for top dollar by fighting with random people on the internet over silly things, saying they should buy this instead of that, but rather by getting the people that really appreciate your car and can afford it to get excited enough about it to buy it.

This is a hell of a deal. It cost about 10-13k in parts and labor to do a swap like this at a good subaru shop. Not to mention the price of a solid car to begin with.

Re: 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero. Conplete STI swap. $14.5

What a read...  I'm late to this but it's interesting.

After realizing the market reality, I don't understand why the OP or anyone in his position would sell a car like this.

For real, I really dig OPs car.

My car is quite similar, with one important thing making it worth even less;

-brand new 2.2 stroker build + big turbo + supporting mods (fuel, air, exhaust, tune, etc) + everything replaced
-Newly installed jdm sti 6 speed complete driveline/suspension/all-other-moving-parts swap, that supposedly had less than 40k miles, which looks believable
-sti bbs wheels
-suspension, mounts, and lots of other stuff customized beyond that
-Won't need anything but oil changes and tire rotations for 30k miles easily and no major maintenance for much longer
-body/computer/realistic-dollar-value-counter have just under a quarter of a million miles on them.

I just spent 12k on my projects for this car in the last year, but the odometer makes it all worth a fraction of that.  It is what it is...  and I'm totally ok with that.  I could have spent that 12k on a down payment for a new debt-mobile that might be almost as fun and practical, with its own wealth of problems, or I could spend 12k on my favorite car I've ever owned and the one of which I know every square inch, part, noise, smell, maintenance history/future, diagnostic minutiae, and everything else as well.  It definitely is a decision of commitment, and I am committed to this car until its death.

If you have the means to hold onto something you feel is worth much more than anyone is willing to give you for it, why anger yourself by "letting it go" for less than it's worth to you?

Figure out the dollar value for the mental anguish of having it surprise-totaled on you, or stolen from you, and find an insurance company that will let you customize and specify coverage of that dollar amount in the event of a total loss.
