carfax and canadian import

Hi,

I have a 2005 aero that I imported into the US from Canada, so it has a metric speedometer/odometer. I am planning to replace the instrument cluster to a mph/miles one. To that end, I bought a used cluster off of ebay, that reads 105,487 miles. I am approaching that equivalent distance in km now (169764 km), and plan to do the switch right when the mileages exactly match, so that the mileage shown will be correct. I would like to document this for eventual resale purposes, which means that I will either film a video of the swap, or have my mechanic do it (Scanwest Autosport, an authorized Saab mechanic as well as a Subaru mechanic) and document it in their database. I am wondering if their maintenance work also shows up in CARFAX reports, which would help in the documentation. Does anyone have an active CARFAX account that they would be willing to use to look up my vehicle? The VIN is JF4GG226X5H053054.

Thanks,
Kim

Drew does - he's on here fairly frequently. I'd recommend shooting him a PM

Re: carfax and canadian import

Thanks for the CARFAX! It looks like the last entry screwed up as I had feared: they recorded 153,539 miles instead of km, though the previous entries were recorded properly. At some point in the future, I'm afraid that carfax will flag the car as having incorrect mileage, since future mileages may be lower than present. Oh well, at least from the record, it is clear that the 153K miles is wrong, since that would mean that I drove 60k miles in 8 months.

You can always contact them for a correction.  We've done it a few times here at my work on some of our vehicle.
