The 2.5 is so much better than the 2.0.  big_smile

Of course I know everything about turbocharged Subaru engines, but for everyone ELSE, could you explain why the 2.0 is more desirable? Asking for a friend.

Re: 2006 Aero 5MT with 49,000 For Sale

Way more reports of ringland/piston failure comapred to spun bearings from what i've seen. Especially in the newer sti engines. Subaru uses cheap cast pistons that are prone to failure, even at stock power levels.

Re: 2006 Aero 5MT with 49,000 For Sale

the 2.5 is superior in every way except i guess complexity because it has AVCS. the 2.0 is fine but the 2.5 is better
the EJ255 in the 06 Aero does not have ringland issues that i've ever heard of, especially compared to some of the STi models (they use different pistons, rods, heads, valves, cams, etc. Only the block case itself and the crank are identical, from an internals perspective)

$10k is a great price. good luck finding a WRX wagon with 50k miles for under $12k and a WRX limited with 50k miles? $15k+

Sorry to those interested but the car is sold.  I'll miss it like hell but my insurance agent is thrilled and it went to a good guy.

That's your opinion, I happen to disagree.

I'll vouch for the good guy it went to - he's a friend of mine since I was in the 7th grade. And he is thoroughly pumped on it.

It looks like I already have a reputation, good and bad! I'm the lucky one that managed to pick up this gem. I have been pouring fuel into an older truck for a few years now and was looking for something a bit more fun without sacrificing all of my practicality. As soon as this holiday stuff passes by and i can get the salt washed off her, I'll put up a proper introduction to her and myself. I hope I didn't dash too many dreams  cool
