Another on bite the dust

Dropping off my kids to school, this minivan run through a stop sign and hit me on the passenger rear quarter ( I don't have a stop sign)  facepalm. My car spin 180 and amazingly no other car where hit given the small street with car on both side.

That's my daughter crying hysterically after the accident, scare the shit out of me. My other two children seems okay, the ambulance were there fairly quickly. The booster car seat with head protection save her head, otherwise it'll be her head that hit the windshield.  Just some bruising on her right face. The scumbag accuse me of causing the accident when I ask him why he run over the stop sign, that's the last I spoke to him.  mad

I am so daze, confuse and worry that I don't remember much, I think I didn't even speak to the police on scene my side of story, they talk to the other guy for sure. I'm in the ambulance with my kids most of the time and it's freezing outside. Hope fully the scene itself is pretty much self explanatory. Still waiting on the police report at this time, hopefully soon so I can claim their insurance company. Most likely a total loss, the rear axle is bend.

First time in an accident, so still learning how to deal with the insurance claims, medical bills and looking for autobody shop. Right now it's still by the side of the street. Thank God everybody is okay, I am force to drive my 06 92x now, which I really dread.  Already at 13900, and just have the first drive in snow and salt today, in its 10+ years of existence.

Glad your daughter is okay, but yeah that's gotta be totaled.  Good thing you have a back up 9-2x.

Re: Another on bite the dust

Shitty! Must've been a scary accident with the minivan hitting right where your daughter was - glad she's OK and the child seat did it's job. I always hate those intersections where 1 street keeps going w/o a stop and one has a stop - I'm nervous about the exact scenario where the other person who's supposed to stop doesn't. Should be pretty clear cut that it's their fault given they had the stop and ignored it.

I agree with Hammy, that's going to be deemed a total loss from insurance.

I swear, every time I see a gold/beige Toyota Sienna, they are not paying any attention whatsoever to driving.

Glad you're OK, let us know what happens.

Re: Another on bite the dust

Glad everyone is ok, that's the most important thing.

If you have insurance coverage for a rental car use it. Even if not consider getting a rental since it was the other driver's fault, you may be able to get their insurance to cover it. Either way, won't have to drive your other car in bad weather.

UGH the truth. Effing Camrys. Yesterday I was in the slow lane of the freeway driving home like responsible motorist respecting those who want to go faster and this Camry with 4 people in it merging on the right of me I thought was going to merge behind me based on his speed, then at the end of the merging lane speeds up for no apparent reason and I had to move into the next lane to let him merge cuz he was literally right next to me. I sped up and passed him, a passenger gave me a sort of sorry bout that shrug and the driver was in his own world. Oblivious Toyota owners man.

Re: Another on bite the dust

Have no fear, I am the driver of a salvage-title Saabaru. A trip to the junkyard for a new door and axle/various suspension components will get you right as rain for much less than the insurance payout.

Unfortunately that fender quarter panel area is going to suck. A body shop will likely want over $1000 to fix it.

Re: Another on bite the dust

Might not be worth repairing if there is damage to strut mount area as well.  Unibody design can suck sometimes.

Re: Another on bite the dust

Okay, the insurance just get back to me, it's total. Buy back is 500. Is it worth buying back ? if I were to part out most of the stuff, what do you guy do with the body only ? I'm in NYC, so don't know of any removal service. TIA.

Re: Another on bite the dust

If the hood/front bumper/front headlights are good and you have the space/ability to part it out then buy it back now.  The hood alone is prolly $500.

Part out will take 10x longer than you think it will and will take up 20x more of your time than you think it will  smile   Is it still worth it?

Did you have leather? and did the back door card get fucked up too?  If the answers are yes, no... then part it out and call me about your interior.  lol

Very sorry, glad you are all ok.

I'm on Long Island, I'd be interested in buying the complete car as is. Private message me if you are open to the idea, thanks.

Re: Another on bite the dust

Hope they gave you a fair price, the Saab 92x really seems to have held its value. If you can buy it back at $500 I would say go for it - people are always looking for parts.
My rear passenger door has about a 7 inch flat dent from a snowbank and the repair center has the repair bill estimate at $800. Subaru doesn't offer the door skin so you have to buy the entire door. The repair shop is going to take the door apart and work the dent out. They estimated this would take 8 to 10 hours of work? Hope they can fix it. Yikes these cars are expensive to fix sad

if they do that the skin will never be perfect, just buy a whole rear door from any 02-07 impreza wagon and take it to the body shop for small dings and paint. I usually see doors go locally for $100-50 when theres a part out
