Rear Wiper Arm Removal?

I'm replacing my rear wiper arm and blade with new ones.  I removed the cover and nut but it won't pop off.  I didn't pull too hard in case it might damage something.  No corrosion so I'm  confused.

Re: Rear Wiper Arm Removal?

Might need to coerce it a little.  With the nut off, it should come straight off.  I could be wrong though, since I never did one on these cars.

Re: Rear Wiper Arm Removal?

Wiper arms use a conical splined crush fit to stay on. With the wiper in the raised (off the glass), wiggle the base of the wiper arm until it comes loose.

The wiper blade itself snaps in place - it's a pain in the ass to figure out, and then you will 'get it'.

And then promptly forget it and have to repeat the 'getting it' process again when you have to replace your wipers again.  biggrin Just had to replace my front wipers.

Re: Rear Wiper Arm Removal?

i had to go thru this with mine....my car is from VT and all rusted....I had to use a http://cdn3.volusion.com/nfczr.pzckq/v/vspfiles/photos/2-JAWS-BEARING-PULLER-2.jpg?1482233573 2 jaw bearing puller.....tthose splines might have fused together due to rust

actually i just remembered...i actually had to take a hacksaw blade and cut the spline...i was replacing the motor and arm though....
