Re: My project Saabaru

Remote tuning has been very frustrating, idle and driving logs are not a problem put when I go to do a pull log the logger freezes at around 4,400 rpm. I don't understand why, i wonder if the problem is my old laptop or with the program.
In other news, I'm going back to the Midwest for 1 1/2 week, leaving rescue at the body shop. I decided to have the doors and quarter panels painted, have the side skirts installed, wet sand and buff the entire car. Spring will be here soon and I plan to dd the car, I want it to look good. It's no show car, it doesn't need to be perfect. When I get it back it's going to my friend's stereo shop to install an Alpine system. I have to figure out my logger issue so I can be all done.

Re: My project Saabaru

Starting to feel good about my rescue project. The car has been at the body shop the last couple of weeks, they have been working on it slowly, starting to look good. I took the car home tonight for the weekend to flash the latest map from Stephen Clark at IA Performance. I have to admit, from the start of the process until tonight I was having a rough time, logging was not happening properly. The program would freeze any time I got the car above 4,000 rpm, I was starting to think I would have to abandon the process. With Stephens patience and professionalism and with the help from Tactrix I'm now logging to red line without issue. Did 2 pull logs and 2 driving around logs tonight, the car is feeling amazing, no more detonation. Monday before returning the car to the body shop I'm dropping off the rear seat at upholstery. I have an STi sedan rear seat that I'm having the upholster dismantle and transfer the blue material to my wagon rear seat. Should end up looking similar to an STi wagon rear seat, good enough for me. The last thing will be having the stereo installed, I think I'm going to do an entire Alpine system. Feels great to be driving the car, I'm stoked.

Re: My project Saabaru

Today the rescue project got the fender liners installed, also a whiteline steering rack bushing kit and last but not least, the badges went on. I also swapped the steering wheel, same as original but in much better condition. The car feels like it is brand new, so happy driving it.

Thank you, it is more road warrior than show piece but I'm loving it. Some dude was trying to talk me into selling it at the local 7eleven on my cafe stop.

Were you able to complete the entire project or the tune still needs to take place? Awesome car man. I can only dream of having a car like that.

Re: My project Saabaru

Hey it was my dream so I went ahead and made it happen, so should you, thanks for the compliment. I'm working with Stephen Clark from IA Performance on e tuning the car. We are on the 6th map, the work continues but it already feels amazing.

Re: My project Saabaru

Probably not, NYS just passed a law that prohibits window tint darker than 70%. I was at my friend's shop having the sound system installed, they also do tinting, they showed me the 70% film, I just don't know if its worth it. I may change my mind when we get up to 90* in the summer.

Re: My project Saabaru

Darkness of tint doesn't mean it's any better at blocking heat.  You can get Air 90/80 and still have something that blocks almost all UV heat coming in.

Massachusetts law requires at least 35% of visible light must pass the rear, front side and back side windows...thats pretty close to NY...anyways i did the legal limit for here and it really made a difference...i bet yours would look great with a bit of tint

Re: My project Saabaru

Yeah tint made a huge difference for my car as well. Aesthetically it looks much better too, especially on black.

Glad to hear the e-tuning is going well. Do you ever plan to bring it to a dyno once tuning is complete to see what it puts down?

No plan on Dyno but if at the right place and right time, could happen.

Re: My project Saabaru

Today I installed a new set of Hella Micro DE driving lights, still need to aim them. Also installed new o rings on the AC hoses, getting ready to bring it to my friend's shop to get the AC working. Replaced the steering wheel again for another stock steering wheel in much much better condition.
