After 5 years, I still haven't found my upscale interior. If they call a switch of fabric style/design 'upscale', shame on them.  facepalm

Upscale interiors don't have manual HVAC controls.  My interior does.

(Yes, I know it was available.)

An upscale interior should include power seats and illuminated visor mirrors....

I always hear "you have the nice interior in that right?"  from my Subaru friends.  And then I show them the seats.    down

Re: Saw this in my weekly eBay Autos email!

From a Car & Driver article in 2004 http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/car … road_test:

"Inside, Saab has given the Subie a full IKEA makeover. The carpeting is now a richer, fuller weave. The door trim is improved, now more pleasing to the eye and hand. Gone are the Subie's cheap dash-mounted cup holder and manual HVAC controls, replaced in our Aero model by two drink holders in the center console and a metallic-look center stack with knurled knobs for the radio and automatic climate controls. Our Aero also came with a standard in-dash six-CD changer and options not even available on the WRX wagon: a $1950 power sunroof and $1695 black-and-parchment leather-wrapped seats with front active head restraints (part of the Premium package, which also has the xenon headlights).

Saab wanted—and needed—to enhance the WRX's subpar NVH levels. Thus, it installed not only the upgraded carpet but also sealing for the rear quarter-trim and liftgate; a revised rear engine mount; acoustical treatment on the roof and rear floor; and new or improved insulation for the toe board, fenders, and shift boot."

Now, does everyone feel better about their interior?

Re: Saw this in my weekly eBay Autos email!

I think all the Imprezas dumped the dash mounted cup holders in 05. I know the mirrior switch went from the center console to the door panel in 05, along with some other weird changes.
Thats why if you do an interior swap you cant use 04 door cards.

Re: Saw this in my weekly eBay Autos email!

They're not saying that it's an upscale interior, but rather that it's slightly more upscale relative to the WRX, which is true.  Reread the text you're quoting.

Damn!  I forgot about this review,  I laugh at the "richer, fuller weave".

And having done some Raamat work, I question the "acoustical treatment on the roof and rear floor" (I found absolutely nothing but barely painted steel in either location).

You are correct. The '05 Impreza has essentially the same interior as the 92X. Rumors have it Subaru wouldn't have done it without GM's additional "assistance", i.e. Subaru benefited from GM $$$$.  facepalm
