I used the magic eraser on the walls of my old house before I moved out.  I don't think it would be a good idea to use it on your seats.

I needz to clean my seats some day soon, too.

My concern with the Magic Eraser is it might get them clean , but it might also strip the finish off the leather.   

I'm going to try milder stuff first,

I've used the magic eraser....just take your time, scrub lightly with plenty of water, pat dry and use plenty of conditioner afterward.  Literally, they looked new afterward.  This, ironically, was in my old immer as well.

Leatherique is all I used afterward as there was no need for the abrasive any longer.  Expensive, but incredible

My leather still has the little wrinkles in the surface, which leads me to believe that the magic erasers aren't damaging the surface much...if at all.  If you're neurotic about keeping the seats clean, I'd do a periodic wipe down with regular cleaner and a towel, and just use the magic eraser once a year or so.

This is the only Leather cleaner that I found that really works.  The only drawback that if you use it too much, it strips off the finish on the leather.

I also tried the magic eraser, but this Griots Leather Cleaner worked better.  Just use it once in a while or (like I said) it will strip the off the finish on the leather (don't ask me how I know).

I use Lexol products (cheapest place to get them is at tack shops, they seem to jack up the prices (you get less for the same price) for automotive sale) with great success on the Audi/VW products in the stable.  Since the Saabaru is a clothy, I use a combination of TuffStuff following ALL of the directions (for wholesale cleaning), the Magic Eraser (for touch up), and Scotchgard on the seats.  FWIW, the way that Magic Eraser's work (sort of work the way that clay bars do for paint, but the Eraser's are consumed in the process, unlike clay) I doubt they will remove a leather's finish.

I was just talking to a guy at work tonight about cleaning leather seats. He was saying that he puts some kind of cleaner(didn't mention the brand) on the seats, and lets it soak in for a few hours while getting the car pretty hot inside(either having it sit in the sun, or jacking up the heat). He then cleans that off with a damp cloth. After that he puts on leather conditioner, where he also lets that sit for a few hours before wiping it off. It sounds to me like a bit of over kill on the time frame, but I figured I would throw it out there.

Scargo has it right.  The good, high quality, leather cleaners (leatherique) do it the opposite way.  The conditioning oil soaks in and brings the dirt to the surface.  This soaking process works best when subjected to a closed car in the summer sun for at least a day.  You can continually apply oil throughout the day as they soak it up.  you'd be shocked how much they absorb. Then you go over the seats lightly with the cleaning agent at the very end.  I did the magic eraser as the very first step as to open the pores to the leather.  helped to speed absorption and take off any large dirt particles.  then massage in the oil with your bare hands.

For the record I'm glad i don't have to do it.  I Just spot clean and scotch guard.  I thought leather was nice, but now that it comes in Civics it makes me wonder if it's really an upgrade.  I wanted leather in this car but after seeing it in person I don't have to have it.  It's typical jap (easy huck finn) leather, nothing to write home about.  Patterned Aero cloth is sufficiently interesting, imo.  Maybe I'm jsut happy for the change.

That won't change the fact that girls like leather , but I'd prefer my M with sport cloth anyday.
