this on the recall thread.

I posted this on the recall thread, see#56:

http://saab92x.com/viewtopic.php?id=37502&p=3

I phoned SAAB yesterday & the rep wasn't even aware of the recall.  Explained that I am 5.5 hrs from the closest SAAB dealership & requested authorization to get the work done at my local Subaru.  Hopefully know in a day or two.

Re: this on the recall thread.

No way Subaru will do recall work on our cars... well only if Subaru buys Saab and I think Subaru is too smart for that. You will need to make the 5.5hrs trip after you get your letter from Saab.

or find a wrx in a junkyard take the VIN # and place it on your car and tell Subaru you did a Saab fender convertion because you wanted to be cool and get them to do the work.  spider

Re: this on the recall thread.

First, I'll get my recall letter from SAAB & plead my case that the local Subaru dealership is capable of doing the work.  They may do this, who is to say.  Second, I'll try to plead my case that the car manufacturer is responsible for the recall, which is Fuji Heavy Industries.    Can't hurt to try because I don't want to make a special trip for this.  I'll let everyone know what happens.

Maybe all the other Canadian owners belonging to our user group should be contacting SAAB so they realize that our orphan cars should not be overlooked.  Doesn't hurt to be in the SAAB system to assure you get the recall notice, especially if you are not the original owner.  Strength in numbers. wink

Re: this on the recall thread.

I would think that Fuji Heavy Industries gives money to the sub companies for the recall work so if I was SAAB I would want money right now. I can see  saab giving away money to :Subaru: (we need a Subaru logo). Plus do they salt the roads in B.C., my car was driven in Calgary and Edmonton (heavy salt here) it's whole life and with 160,000km on it the Subaru dealer that checked my car less then a week ago said my car was fine.   But I should take pictures and post.
