90,000 miles and original clutch and no trans issues.  Still shifts like it was new (not that that's great or anything).  I can put it into 1st from a roll.  Sometimes I have to double clutch to get it in revers (did when it was new too) and when it is cold it is hard to get into 1st (was when new too).

I have been stage 2 for the majority of the time I have owned the car and while I don't "beat" on the car, I do drive it hard sometimes though I make an effort not to be too hard on the trans.  I do a lot of highway driving and change the trans fluid ever 30,000 miles with the stock fluid.

75,000 miles and still have the original clutch which I pretty much expect to have for at least 75,000 more miles.

I rebuilt the engine at 90,000miles. was easier to replace clutch then, didnt need to but did it any way

Original everything still at 80K.  Drove a friends new WRX the other day and realized how high the catch point on my clutch is.  I'm thinking of replacing it this summer with an ACT clutch.  Transmission is smooth and differential afaik is working well.

Is it a loudish pop, rattle, or rapid-thudding?  Can you feel it in your seat?

If so, check the downpipe bracket that anchors to the transmission.  If it's loose or broken, the downpipe will rattle against the transmission support/crossmember in reverse.

Sorry, I know it's off topic but I wanted to throw that out there in case that's what's occurring in your case ('cause it took me an eternity to figure it out when it happened to me)

It is a blend between a rattle/thud/scraping noise. What you are describing sounds like it could be the case, I'll check it out. Thanks!

So I was doing brilliant things with my car today and managed to get sort of stuck with my front passenger side tire dropped in a washout that was a lot softer than I expected.  The other three tires were on good ground so I managed to back out, but I smoked my clutch a little in the process. (compacted clay uphill)

I now have a weird sound in reverse when the car is under load.  (aka backing up a gravel 20 degree slope).  Hopefully I just bent the bracket on my downpipe. (The car probably was resting on the sub frame on that side of the car)  I have heard the downpipe sound before this seems to be a little different.  More of a grind sound, but there are no symptoms traveling forward regardless of load and no symptoms if I take it easy when I backup. 

I spent quite a bit of time under and over the car when I got home, but I really didn't see anything wrong.  I didn't really look to see if the DP could be touching because my car was still hot.

Anyone have any input?

143k miles, replaced the clutch about 2k miles ago. Only issue I'm having is the need to press the clutch in twice to be able to shift into reverse. It was happening with old clutch too, so I know that's not it. Not a big deal, just annoying.

Did not know that - makes sense! I have to do the double clutch pedal press to get it into reverse from time to time as well, doesn't bother me.

108k on my Saabaru, replaced my clutch after it started slipping at 75k miles w/ an OEM replacement clutch and resurfaced flywheel. Have serviced the tranny every 30k and am now using Redline fluids for the tranny and rear diff.

Since I replaced the clutch my 2nd synchro is getting fairly worn (at least I think that's the problem). When I shift from 1st-2nd under hard acceleration I get 'locked out' from second. Driving like a normal human I don't have an issue getting into second so I figure I'll replace the synchro (and gears if needed) once I have a bigger reason to tear things apart like my engine or clutch goes kapooey.

Rocking 2nd clutch and 2nd transmission.

First tranny made noise and Saab replaced it at about 55k. Put in a new clutch at the same time.... and an IXIZ STOP CLUTCH... .which caused accelerated wear.

I'm  due for a 3rd clutch ASAP and I hope my transmission is OK. I don't want a 3rd of those either.   And no, I don't beat the shit out of my trans or clutch... stop clutch accelerated the wear
