I went with Valero's after being told how amazing they were, and they're above average. Did Rain-X buy Bosch or something? I wanted a set of Icon's but can not find Bosch stocked anywhere..

Goodyear wipers from Costco for $7.99 each are the bomb. I've been running the same pair since last January on a super-pitted 107k windshield, and they still do not streak!

I typically have Bosch Micro Edge on my car w/Rain-X (applied to windscreen) for 2 years or more, no streaking.

I love Rain-x.  Prime example of better living through chemistry.  heart  I've never tried their wipers, though.

I use Rain-X wipers and I love 'em to death.  They stood up pretty good this past winter.

You should be able to get them at Advance Auto parts.

The only problem with the rain-x ones is sometimes the plastic cap on the end breaks off if you slap them around too hard trying to get the ice off.

Re: Outrageous Claim: Rainx/bosh style wipers are the best

I was running the Rain-X wipers but they quit on me after about 8 months of use. I also found they left an annoying film/smear on the windshield. I Switched to ANCO blades and haven't thought of going back, but I still run rain-x washer fluid. If I'm going to replace my wipers every 8-12 months and the $6 blade works as well(or better) than the $15 blade, it's an obvious choice for me.

Re: Outrageous Claim: Rainx/bosh style wipers are the best

I had rain-x blades on my last car and loved them, but they have been absolute crap on my current car. I always get streaking right in my normal line of sight. I'm looking for something to replace them with. The Costco ones actually sound interesting. I think i might try them.

Re: Outrageous Claim: Rainx/bosh style wipers are the best

I find the floppy "Aero" blades a waste of money.  No better performance or life for a 30-40% premium, so why spend more?.

Edit: Oh, and I had the Michelin one's, and the "outside" plastic cap broke off (and they aren't interchangable end for end), and once that happened, good bye wiper.  WHY retain something as simple as a rubber blade with a piece of plastic and a cheap, stamped metal clip has done the same job for next to nothing on the "standard" wipers for years.

Just switched from Bosch Icon to Rain-X latitude.  Performance seems to be about the same.

Re: Outrageous Claim: Rainx/bosh style wipers are the best

I have Rain-X wipers on my 9-2X and the wifey's CX-9.  I think I bought one set at Target and the other WalMart.  Cost more than the cheap-o wipers, but still relatively inexpensive.  I'm happy with them, but nothing to rave about.  They work.  They last reasonably long.  I use Rain-X windshield washer fluid and try to remember to Rain-X my windshield (but am not always very good about remembering ... especially during the winter).

I used the Valero wipers when they were BOGO from Tire Rack.  A good deal, but nothing exceptional IMHO.  And I had the Goodyear wipers from COSTO on the CX-9 before replacing them with the Rain-X wipers.  They do the job but I think they're just FUGLY.  lol

Re: Outrageous Claim: Rainx/bosh style wipers are the best

The Goodyears at Costco are $7.99 a piece, and as stated above, occasionally BOGO free. You can't beat the price or the quality, even if they are not the most attractive thing on the planet.

I personally find any of the "aero-style" wiper blades fugly.

I like the beam style wipers better mostly because it seems like they are less clogged up by the snow.  With no moving joints for snow and ice to get stuck in they make better contact with the glass.  With the regular wipers i will go out to my car, brush off the snow, do the obligatory slapping of the wipers and get in and start driving.  Then sometimes i will begin driving, have to use the wipers only to realize that i didn't manage to smack all the ice out of the little hinges.  Now i have a streak in my line of vision.  The beam style blades let go of ice and snow very easily.

They also make the old-style blades with a big rubber condom on 'em to keep out the water.

I had a pair of Rain-x, they wore quickly.  Now I Bosch and they are just starting to wear out at 14 months.

I flip my wipers up if I'm parked outside and I'm expecting snow. Problem solved. I don't bother with the condom wrapped "winter" blades, although I would have to admit, the "aero" blades do have the "condom" advantage.

Re: Outrageous Claim: Rainx/bosh style wipers are the best

I had a pair of Rain-x Latitudes on my Mazda for 6 years. They still worked amazingly well when I took them off, but one was starting to tear and wouldn't pass Virginia's State Inspection regulations. First thing I did to my Aero when I bought it in November was a set of Rain-x Wipers. As long as you clean them every so often, they'll work forever. Well worth the money.

I need new wipers for the Aero. Bosch seems to be a pretty popular brand.  Are these a good deal?  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bosch-Direct-Co … mp;vxp=mtr

arrow-up Those are what I used regularly on all of my cars until I switched to the Goodyears from Costco. Good wiper blade with the traditional "look".

$20 shipped is a pretty good price, but still more than the Goodyears.
