And this, my friends, is why you snug up those seat belts!
This guy is lucky, big time. His belts look really loose, he doesn't have arm restraints, and I may have missed it, but looks like the teeny little roll bar never even contacted the ground...which is fortunate, because it looks like the top of his helmet is above it.
Scary.

Love the shot of the license plate flying around. Holy shit.

DAMN that could've ended a million x worst. It looked like a third of his body came out of the car as it was rolling. Could've easily gotten flattened.

inorite? Was that thing just taped to the back of his car? It looked like the wind just blew it off. Also, is it something to be alarmed about that the trunk came open that easily? It looked like the wind just blew it open as well. The thing seems awful flimsy to me...but then again, the guy seemed fine after rolling it multiple times at 130 mph, so maybe it isn't so bad.

As I was watching it the first time, I was wondering what it would be like if his arm(s) got pinched between the ground and the top of the door while the car was rolling. Can you imagine?

I also like how he says that it suddenly didn't feel right and felt very loose....and then seconds later, says that he had no warning when the car flew out of control.

From how he lost it, I think something broke or a tire went down in the Drivers Rear corner.

It said in the beginning of the video that something in the suspension broke.

That guy is supremely luck to be alive. That could have ended so much worse. Crazy video!

Yup, good thing nobody will have to refer to him as their L8 father.

Wicked indeed. The owner, Pete, wrote about his crash here: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-cob … -year.html
"Not clear whether the right lower control arm broke first, or the right steering rack outer shaft separated at the tie rod end, but the car was going straight ahead, flat out, end of front straight, but NOT yet braking for turn one at Willow. What caused the failure is conjecture, we can all hypothesize a reasonable failure sequence. "
He put the wreck on ebay too: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200 … 4161c8fe50

Wow. For a second there I thought this thread was going to be about Arnaud getting some work done at COBB...

I was reading through some of the posts there, and one guy brought up another thing wrong with his safety gear: it looks like the shoulder belts are mounted way too high. They're supposed to be horizontal or angled slightly down...this guy is seriously so lucky. Belts probably loose; belts mounted incorrectly; no useful roll bar; no arm restraints.

That's why we got an aluminum body, it's easier to bang back into shape

Super lucky yes. If the axis of rotation was a little different, he would have ate hard
