I wanted to see Perez overtake Alsonso so badly. I didn't see the part where he went off, my recording had stopped... Do you think he was told to stay in second because of the whole Ferrari - Sauber Ferrari thing?
Offline
No I dont think they told him to not pass. He looked strong, but didnt have enough to pass Alonso IMO
I was totally impressed how well he did on the intermediate tires for that length of time though, what a driver!
I wouldn't get to excited about Ferrari just yet. I mean, the race was up in the air and the rain played a HUGE part in the Ferrari win I think. And what of Massa? They are out for his head apparently

What channel are you watching these races on?
I finally have cable and I think I'd like to check it out.

Speed Channel. Not sure if your cable provider has it

Perez was pulling in Alsonso at almost a 1 second a lap! I don't know if it was truly 'team orders' but Sauber did basically tell him second place(and the points that come with it) are worth protecting. Granted he didn't back off as much as he went off, but I think with that massively long DRS zone he could have passed Alsonso if he had 2-3 laps to get into position. I think it was a shame that they let him stay out on the inter-wet tires costing him more time when Alsonso pitted.
It sounds like Perez was already on the Ferrari radar as a replacement for Massa, this may have just sealed the deal. It was great to see how happy he was after the race. I know it is only 2 races and that rain played a huge part in this one, but I love that there hasn't been a 1-2 finish yet and that the field seems pretty competitive so far.

I missed the last 10 laps or so. It appears he kept pulling on him then huh?

Oh yeah, the Sauber was clearly the faster car. Perez got to within a second or 2 just prior to Alsonso pitting to put on slicks, but then stuck out for another lap and lost 5 seconds. Then once he pitted he slowly reeled Alsonso back and actually had one run down the DRS zone at him, but Alsonso used all of his KERS to keep him back. That was the lap Perez went off putting him back another 5-7 seconds. In the end I think Perez was something like 2-3 back.
Alsonso's KERS was fully charged and Perez's was empty the one run he had at him. I really think he would have adjusted and taken him, plus I think that Alsonso's tires were almost done at the end.

Well just because the Sauber was pulling on Fernando's car doesn't mean much.. they could have changed fuel mixtures to conserve gas or Alonso could have backed off to not make mistakes. Or Alonso's tires could have been going but its tough to tell.
@ Iamchris - yeah. i've been getting up at ungodly hours to watch qually and the race... but look at speedtv.com for the racing times or the last races I watched on Sky Sports which i DLd from a torrent site. two totally different broadcasts but I like them both.
