Welcome to Saab92x.com!
Hi everyone, |
I got slammed today on my way home. On the Bay Bridge, traffic about 50, some cockbite going about 80 thougth traffic, shows up in my mirror slamming on the brakes, but still can't miss me. Clouds of smoke, then SLAM. Gives *me* a WTF gesture, then flees. My car gave better than she got though, because he dove under. I think he lost the driver's side headlight and the hood buckled. My rear bumper is fucked, but it looks like the sheet metal and taillight are OK. I'll check it out more in the morning (or when it's not raining).
Separately, my new car is on a boat that just traversed the Panama Canal today, and is due in Pt. Hueneme in eight days. Yeah. Now I've got a little more buffing to do before the Linear is ready for sale.

Yep. I got three letters of his plate, but it's a real longshot on anything every coming up. After he hit, he was back about 100 feet. There was no shoulder (on the bridge itself), so I was starting to think about the first place to pull over when he came by with a head of steam, gestured to me, and then dove between some cars and sped off.

Aww man sorry that happened, what a POS. What was he driving?

Ugh lame. What kind of car was it? What's your insurance have to say? And did you even bother calling the cops?

Man that sucks, and right when you're getting ready to sell it too!

What an asshole.
If you got three letters on his plate and the make, model, and color of his car, then shouldn't that be enough?

It doesn't look any better this morning, but it doesn't look worse either. Still, it's mondo suckage. Hatch and taillight were not touched, and I don't see any wrinkling on the quarter panel. I'll give it a more thorough going-over later.
I did call the cops. I didn't get a good enough description of the vehicle (blue-green coupe, sort of Grand Am-ish) or driver (clean-shaven latino) that three letters of the plate have any hope of finding the miscreant, so wanted to be sure there was a police report documenting the hit and run.
I haven't called my insureance company yet. I'll do that today. I may swap out the bumper skin with my spare and call it "good enough" (inside joke for LeMons racers) rather than make a claim. It's got a little scuffing, but isn't bad. I've got to weigh a possible increase in insurance against devaluation of the car. Not sure if the incident goes into the Carfax-type databases if there's no claim.
My always-stiff neck is a little more stiff this morning but overall, considering his speed differential with traffic, someone could have been seriously injured. I hope the stupid asshole is feeling it today.

That fuckin' butthole probably didn't have insurance, or even a license for that matter.

That's my thinking. I've got both, and my coverage is good, my record clean. I'm not worried, but it's pretty inconvenient.

The star allows us to be racist, but without being racist.
