This has too much power for a FWD car.  I'll get used to it.

Re: Lizzardo's non-Linear

great choice.  my sister bought the S60 T6 AWD.  With the bigger engine and the AWD, the car is fanTASTically planted.  What upgrades does Polestar do to it in their kit?

Re: Lizzardo's non-Linear

The Polestar Performance package is a reflash of the engine management system.  Power goes from 227 to 250 (both at 5000), torque from 238 (dead flat from 1500-5000) to 273 (at 3000).  I also get a little blue square for the back and a sticker for the fuel door recommending premium.  As an ECU reflash, it's pricey, but when installed through the dealer, warranty is preserved.  There are a few other reflashes available for about 2/3 as much, but they void the warranty.

I also got:

- Metallic paint:  yes, this color cost more
- Climate package:  heated seats, headlight washers, climate control, rain sensor, and IAQS (Interior Air Quality System - I think it shuts down outside air temporarily if it detects that it's "bad")
- Active dual xenon headlights:  These angle the headlights with the steering wheel.  I haven't driven at night with these yet, but they sounded way cool.
- Keyless Drive:  didn't care that much, but figured it would add to the value
- BLIS (Blind Spot Information System):  also a non-essential, but I thinkit'll be required sson enough, so should also help with value.  This comes with power retractable mirrors.

I believe it's just a different cabin air filter, as was the case in older Volvo models.  They may have changed this though.

You got a pretty heavily optioned C30.  Care to share your out-the-door price?

I got a few options, yes, but did not get either of the two big options packages:  Premier Plus and Platinum.  Both of these had things I didn't want or need (moonroof, power seats, sound system upgrade) so I picked what mattered.

The MSRP of the car, as optioned, was $32,270, including destination fees, but not tax, license, etc. or taking into account any discounts.

EDIT:  IAQS is described like this in the brochure:

"Volvo's IAQS continuously monitors incoming air and will, if necessary, temporarily close external vents to shut ouit carbon monoxide, ground-level ozone, and nitrogen dioxide.  Meanwhile, an active carbon filter protects the occupants from other harmful gases and unpleasant odours.  This helps to ensure that the air you breathe in the car is cleaner than the outside when driving in heavy city traffic and tunnels."

Perhaps there are a lot of things that bring strippers to mind for you.  I studied quite a bit of astronomy back in my college days;  moreso than strippers, so didn't make that connection.  Another example of my misspent youth.  sadbanana

Interesting tidbits on the IAQS there.
Something else I was wondering; What did the country of origin/assembly sticker say?  Are these being put together in China now, or just of Chinese parts, or neither?

Basically this.  I drove an '08 R Design in red and loved it.  I must say, I kind of like the nose of the first gen better, but I love the car.

Neither.

US/Canadian parts: 0.5%
Major sources of foreign parts content:
  Belgium:  30%
  Germany:  20%

Final Assembly Point:  Ghent, Belgium

Country of origin:
  Engine Parts:  Sweden
  Transmission Parts:  Germany

There have been ongoing rumors that production is going to cease (last year, this year, next year).  <shrug>

Ah, a fan of the "pre-facelift" cars.  There are definitely two camps on the C30 forum.

I honestly didn't even notice that until I was resizing pics for upload to the image host.

I'm not sure if they all have a strut tower brace, but when I popped the hood, the salesman said he'd never noticed one of those before.  He's not motorsport-inclined though, so he may have seen many and never noticed.  It's painted steel, but they must have felt it helped or they wouldn't have spent the money without pointing it out.
