Boost/Vacuum leak?

I was driving a friend around today, who was in my car for the first time, and he thinks I might have a vacuum leak based on how the car was acting. I have been noticing for a while that my car seemed a bit hesitant(kind of jumpy with consistent throttle) under light acceleration. He noticed that the engine seemed a bit hesitant at idle, which we now think is normal. My question to start off would be, is hesitation while out of boost(under light acceleration at lower RPMs) normal?

Re: Boost/Vacuum leak?

Is this new behavior to you?

I have similar symptoms. I think that's just the nature of the engine. I've heard that an accessport or other form of engine management can remove the slight hiccups and roughness and whatnot, but haven't gone down that path yet. I also have "jumpy" feeling acceleration with light throttle, when my foot is rock steady.

I did notice it got a little better after cleaning my MAF, so maybe do that if you haven't in a while.

If it is nothing new, I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Boost/Vacuum leak?

It is not new, and it has not seemed to change. I replaced the plugs a few months ago, and the "jumpyness" went a way after the ecu was reset, but came back soon after. I have never thought too much of it, so I am either looking to reassure myself that it is normal, or figure out what might be wrong. Its good to hear that you find it normal, but I still want to hear what other people have to say. Thanks!

Also, do you have a "post my ride" thread on your car? I just noticed in your signature that you have the greatest 9-2x of them all, and I want to see some pictures.

Re: Boost/Vacuum leak?

Thanks! I haven't made a thread yet. I misplaced my good camera  facepalm and am hoping to find it so I can use that instead of my phone. I'll get it done soon

Re: Boost/Vacuum leak?

I've dealt with similar issues on my 2.5i.  One was a vacuum leak on the torque box, which I fixed with some silicone sealant.  Another instance was caused by a nearly-broken contact on one of my spark plug wires.

I have the same deal. Trying to find a boost pressure adapter thinger or a smoke machine. I was thinking plugs or coil packs, vac leak, or A/F Sensor.
