You seriously gonna post up that prime lenz when you know i want a 200$ 35mm?
The question is how much better is it than the nikkor 35mm 1.8? Also, why are you selling it?

I don't use it. Moved to full frame.
It's not that much better. I would get the 35mm if I were you, it will focus more accurately on your body. Also, I think shipping to an APO is outrageous $, isn't it?

APO shipping is outrageously cheap, actually. That whole "I waive the flag, too" nutswinger affect. Thanks SAM (uncle).
Anywho, I'm good on the lens and thanks for the advice.

Tell me why I need the 5000 over my D40.
seems a good deal.

It is competitively priced. D5000s are listed anywhere from $600 to $300 on CL near me, but the $300 one doesn't have a battery.
Over a D40 you will get greater dynamic range and lower noise. You can comfortably shoot at ISO 2,500 with acceptable noise levels, IMO. You also get cool stuff like interval shooting capability, self cleaning sensor, nicer LCD, etc. etc. (All the tech advances that come with electronics over a several year span.)

Questioned friendships ITT.

Honestly, I wanted to keep these two as backups, as I usually bring two cameras with me to work.
But I just got back from vacation, and realized I didn't even bring either camera with, and haven't used them in months. They are collecting dust. So I decided to sell sooner rather than later.
The 30mm prime is very sharp, but I would recommend it to someone using a body that has fine focusing adjustment. It tended to backfocus slightly on my D5000 body in certain situations.

i want to use the prime mainly for shooting video on my crop sensor. switching it from nikon to canon is just a matter of getting an adaptor yea? Also, (shot in the dark) know anywhere cheap I can pickup a Tokina 11-16?

Offline
Honestly, it probably would work with an adaptor, I'm not sure though.
And I don't know about the Tokina. Profit margins are pretty slim on this type of stuff when buying new, try to get it refurbished for a deal.

An adaptor will likely not allow shooting at infinity, the lens will likely sit too far from the sensor focal plane. The Tokina is a nice piece of glass, as is the 30mm prime. I wish I had the scratch for it.

I have the Sigma 30mm 1.4 Canon version, it's almost always on my camera. Little tricky to focus wide open but when it gets a lock it's always great results.
Still works with full frame though doesn't it? You just don't like how wide it is?
Offline
It vignettes on full frame, otherwise I would use it.
