And in rolls the SaaBeeru...

So I've been lurking around the site for a few months now, and after a pit stop in Utah last week (End of August '12), I'm now the proud owner of a unmodded Aero I've dubbed the SaaBeeru.
http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q522/Bradrcr/SaaBeeru/7c87c059.jpg
The car will be staying in Renton with a '11 WRX hatch the wife drives to give me a run for my money. I've got a multi-pronged goal with this car to fulfill every need I have for a vehicle at once. It needs to be fast, have a bit of luxury, be damn comfortable, good looking, unique, and able to hold a few kegs without losing it  embeer It will probably be just driven on snow days for the next year after which it may see upwards of 40,000 miles a year.

As the SaaBeeru sits now:

Sorry, but if you're going to mention your wife driving a WRX, you're going to have to post up some pics.

Wife's a professional dancer so she's already planning on her own WRX pose pics taken by a real photographer, but here's one from Halloween of her and the hatch. If I just posted her I'd get slapped  wink

I also rebadged the front and rear per her request, she gets a lot of 'spotted' on Nasioc.

Of course I didn't see the PMR thread last night when I started the thread too sleepy for my own good, now it's the first thing I saw when I logged in. I don't see a way to move the thread without just reposting- Admins, can you move?

Re: And in rolls the SaaBeeru...

Bunch of recent cosmetic mods I wanted to post. Before anyone gives me s**t about not going stage 2 first, I do have an STI Uppipe, Cobb catted downpipe, FMIC and a pile of other goodies, but I promised a parts manufacturer I'd keep the car stock so we can do some baseline dyno runs before we slapped on some parts, so it's just getting prettier for the next month or so.

Leather/heated interior is swapped in along with a Barrett shifter:
http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q522/Bradrcr/SaaBeeru/63CEFAAA-95D5-498D-A2BF-DCE7B788B4DB-3750-000001C35404658B_zps64b2583e.jpg
Prodrive Mudflaps are on, I'll post a How-To thread for these in wagons on Nasioc:
http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q522/Bradrcr/SaaBeeru/Prodrive%20Mudflaps/A1D42B57-B0C0-4CCE-B58B-28FEA0EF4E3F-4147-000002A8625F6329_zpsc8f2e652.jpg
Gradually doing a white accent conversion under the hood, and added a shock tower brace:
http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q522/Bradrcr/SaaBeeru/B431D460-6ADB-44C8-807D-2DA9F8C7D820-6284-000002E638D3BCF5_zps485156a8.jpg
Put on a Mishimoto fan and posted a how-to on keeping the stock wiring intact and proper sealing:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr … ?t=2405557
http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q522/Bradrcr/SaaBeeru/Mishimoto%20Fan%20Install/c27f8429.jpg
And it may not be a mod, but I grabbed some 9-2X 16s and had them wrapped in Icebears for an easy winter swap  big_smile

Just curious, why don't you like the shifter? Curious if it's shape, do you know any decent pistol-style manufacturers for our cars? Or if it's just the height. I'd prefer one that looks more stock and has the shift pattern on the top anyways. The white will match the outside twin stripe I'm doing. That will guarantee some love it/flaming debate in a heartbeat  smile, but I mocked it up, I think it looks great, and I wanted something I hadn't seen on any other 9-2X or WRX/STI.

huckleberry wrote:

We were letting the warranty run out first on the WTF before doing anything nuts. current mods are largely cosmetic:
Nameless Performance Catback
K&N Typhoon Intake
Torqued Performance Stage 1 Map
Black Vinyl roof wrap
Full red on black rebadging
Pioneer Avic F900BT Nav Stereo
Rallyarmor flaps
Weathertech Digitalfit/deflector package

We'll pick up the Nameless downpipe in a couple of weeks and I already have a Torqued Performance Stage 2 Map. The Stage 1 hauls ass as it its. From there we'll put in a clustermaker dash gauge kit, probably a new fuel pump and injectors, then take it to Maxwell Power for a protune. I've talked to them about both our cars and surprisingly they told me to keep the stock TMIC on the WTF. Although, I'll probably get the 'bulletproof' kit so we don't separate the end tanks.

Re: And in rolls the SaaBeeru...

Almost forgot, they're sticklers on front plates around here, so my car finally got it's first one; I managed to keep it looking fairly OEM:

And I went through my pics this morning and put together an install how-to for wagons on the Prodrive flaps if anyone else was thinking about putting a set on:

Just a matter of opinion - I generally prefer more of an OEM style and I don't think I'd like any pistol-style shifter (that I can think of).

It's not bad per say, just seems to clash with the rest of the interior.

I like the white accents and the Prodrive mudflaps.  up Looking forward to seeing your write-up on those.

And the shifter isn’t my taste either… but it kinda looks like a tap handle, so it works with the theme.

EDIT: Found it...

Re: And in rolls the SaaBeeru...

Here's a shot of the flaps from the side:
http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q522/Bradrcr/SaaBeeru/Prodrive%20Mudflaps/86E14DBC-04A3-4CD1-B1B1-F76955B27B4B-7131-000004BCCB8AC7EF_zpsc5ecf7d2.jpg

Since the bolts and brackets are so reflective I'll probably put some underbody coating on them. I hadn't thought about the Taphandle look, I may have to drill out some that I have just for fun now that you've given me the idea. I may ask for this for my birthday too:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-WRX-Shif … 0381442484
I just wish it didn't look so 'dildoish'.
