Well, the bugeye is now flashed stage 2. Installed a brand new Cobb down pipe on it, next is to install a Cobb up pipe, not an easy job. I'll have a friend install the up pipe at his shop. A new clutch is going on it in a couple of weeks. Still debating on what to do about suspension, I'm liking the plush ride on the stock suspension. I may just keep stock springs and swaybars on it but change the struts. Despite the 177,000 miles of use on the struts they still work properly. I took the Cobb intake off, got tired of the noise it makes, going to sell it. Bugeye is coming along nicely.

Well, today the bugeye gave the ghost, just made it to my parking lot at work, the engine sounding like an angry rattle snake or the castanuelas on a spanish flamenco dancer. It's sad, not sure how I'll go about fixing it yet but at the moment considering a brand new 2.0l long block. I'll do a new oil pump, complete timing belt kit, new turbo and injectors etc.

I placed an ad on my local Subaru forum and gave the seat for free to the first guy that said needed them. They were mint except a bit of wear on the left side bolster from getting in and out of the car. My bugeye may still be running too but it had been knocking a bit and I just beat on it relentlessly.

I may have missed it, but what octane was the tune @ and the turbo seems to spool earlier than what I have read for other version 8s; looks like your intake and exhaust are working in your favor.

I noticed the PLX AFR on the monitor, mind showcasing your gauge setup? I plan on running several PLX gauges hooked to my laptop to display them via dashcommand and running this skin

Yeah me neither, I'm starting to get to anxious and tempted to do the engine swap alone asap. Did keep the stock redline? I love how the power keeps building all the way to redline on these engines

Way to go, rodman. Def the direction I'd like to go if and when the slightly dreadful day ever comes.  Those should be some trustworthy horsepowers.

I've been looking for some good resources on ej207 swap info, but it's difficult to weed out the good info from the bad. Can you post some links of the good info you've come across in your searching? No hurry for me, I am just thinking forward to that bittersweet day. I've heard that ej207 swaps are a nightmare to wire and deal with, but I have also heard that they are basically plug and play.

Yes but you'd be runing your car on a Jdm ecu, may want look into how the inspection process works in your state. I still have my usdm ecu to use once a year for inspection. It's a simple ecu swap, no additional wiring required. Unplug the jdm ecu and plug in the usdm ecu. My usdm ecu map has been modified to not trigger the tgv related check engine light. It's just a matter of disabling the tgv monitors via open source. Next thing is to transfer the files from the tuned Jdm ecu to the usdm ecu. It's just to run the engine safe while on inspection mode.  I'll have no avcs function when runing on the usdm ecu.
That said, I wouldn't take my low miles well looked after original engine out of my car to install an unknown history junk yard engine, no way. It only becomes economicaly somewhat justifiable if you have a damaged engine and you need a long block to make do.
I understand why you like the idea and feel inspired but you need to make sure you fully understand what you are getting into. I plan on keeping my car for as long as I can foresee. My car is a toy, financial reasoning no longer applies. I still love my aero in its stage 2 state, plenty fun, reliable and fuel efficient. The ej207 is thirsty, I'll be monitoring my fuel consumption over the next couple of weeks and report back. I'm still enjoying the new power too much and not ready to go an entire week driving my regular week without standing hard on the gas pedal too much.
