Re: Hows the weather?

I have got to find a place to hide my new dune buggy. It is parked in the garage that flooded when Irene hit. So I dont want to leave it in there but I cant put it at the top of the driveway where the water wont reach and leave in the rain. I am hoping that the river will crest long after the rains have gone so I can leave it in the garage durign the rain then pull it out before the water rises.

Re: Hows the weather?

arrow-down you may be in "luck" (damn, you had river flooding? Sucks dude) .  A large part of the massive amounts of water from this storm appear to be because it will stall over NY or NE, that "may" buy you some of the transition time...or not.

Yea I am less then a 1/4 mile from the Hudson. It broke over a day after Irene went through and made it into our yard, about 3 feet in the basement. We were lucky and lost very little. The most expensive was a new regulator on the furnace, so we didnt have it that bad, more of an annoyance.

Re: Hows the weather?

The current track for the moment seems likely to spare the Capitol District even along the Hudson of much more a moderate rain. Downstate, my bet is if the storm hits Bergan Cty, the Storm Surge will go up the Hudson as far Scarsdale or Haverstraw.

Re: Hows the weather?

Working from home today, but there is a limit to what I can do from here.  It will be interesting to go back (probably Wednesday), as the plant is right on the Delaware river, and has a covered up/sewerized creek running right through the center of campus.

Seems like a quiet spot right now so off to go for a run before things get worse.

same here.  Real close to the hudson...I'm worried my car's down the block from me on the street, if the drains get clogged, no more 92x for me!...I'm actually 10 blocks from the water, ha.  9 feet above sea level.  : |

Nothing overly exciting...the Schuylkill isn't even really high yet.  If I go out tomorrow I'll try and take some pictures.

We are still running our 2nd shift today, possibly sending them home early at 8 instead of 11:30pm. Very good chance that 3rd shift is cancelled entirely and 1st shift tomorrow will be decided at 5:30am. Nothing like being proactive and saying everyone stay home.

We lucked out up here and just had a breezy rain storm. Watching video from NJ, NYC, etc. I'm shocked. I hope any and all of you affected by this storm are safe.

Re: Hows the weather?

We've had flooding two days in a row. now. KrazyKarGuy, Avoid RT 15(both directions). Take Browns Trace to 89 and into Burlington. RT 15 is gone at Weed Rd(south of town) and Cilley Hill rd(North of Town). Jericho was an island for a part of tonight and I got stuck there for three hours trying to find a way out while covering the flooding.

Re: Hows the weather?

Thanks for the advice - I managed to make it to work without hitting any road closures. I didn't think that I would.

There are some reports of 4-5 inches of rain that fell in the Jericho/Underhill area last night.  eek

My parents live on Cilley Hill Rd - it was completely washed out on both ends, they are stranded for the foreseeable future.

Jericho end:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/954715_10151489392628871_580062796_n.jpg

Underhill end:
http://bcdownload.gannett.edgesuite.net/burlington/38321751001/38321751001_2405320949001_video-still-for-video-2405509892001.jpg?pubId=38321751001

Video: http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/arti … 305230018/  eek

The Underhill end is a very steep hill, with a pond near the top. The road turned into a water slide, and flooded Route 15 (taking out the dirt road in the process).

I drove on Weed Rd. Wednesday night, won't be doing that any time soon.

Re: Hows the weather?

We're 160% of the average rainfall totals.  Last time this happened here, it was 2008, and we had a 500 year flood.  And this happened in MN:

Re: Hows the weather?

Vermont is just coming off three weeks of drought-like weather, so getting 4 inches of rain all at once is not going to end well.

My dad took these pics this morning:

Re: Hows the weather?

I got broadsided by the wall of water that took out Weed Rd as I drove up 15. Me and 2 other cars almost ended up in the x-mas tree farm. I pulled down Weed just in time to watch it get washed out, then saw a State Trooper fly by down to the little dip on 15 where I had been hit by the wall of water. I went there and talked to him as he shut down 15. We both watched as the road disintegrated before us. If he hadn't shut the road down right then, I have no doubts someone would have attempted to cross and died trying(seeing how they were attempting when he shut it down). I had to tell him about Weed rd being washed out as no one knew at the time. He went and put up a road block there. He and I both ended up at Cilley hill(North end) in time to watch the Garage of the house that's on that intersection disappear. That trooper and I ended up everywhere last night. I flagged him down so many times for stranded cars, flooded houses, etc. I give that man major credit. Hope you and your Parents escaped any damage to your homes. When I get into work I'll cut some video/stills of last night and post them.

Re: Hows the weather?

arrow-up Those are both Cilley Hill Road. The top picture is from the top of the Underhill side, the bottom pic is the washed out culvert from the 'stranded islander' side of Cilley Hill, just before the Hanley Rd./Cilley Hill Rd. fork.

Go ahead and use them, I doubt my dad would care (his name is Richard Kuerth, if you feel like providing credit). I am fairly certain that their home did not sustain any damage.

Re: Hows the weather?

Crazy. Glad to hear they didn't sustain Damage.
These are stills from my video I shot last night.
The Cilley Hill Rd & Rt 15 intersection last night around 10:30.

Fire fighters checking on the house at Cilley & 15. Residents evacuated, and as of today say will never live in this house again.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-DB0ucMTkSdA/UZ-xBg5mu7I/AAAAAAAAD6k/1E2xRIUPPNU/s640/New%2520Folder.jpg
When I parked here there was a small wash out. The large chunk of road missing by my front tire fell into the washout right as I was about to step on that spot. Thankfully the road held long enough for me to get my truck out of there.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SswT28bmXc8/UZ-xBq0ptbI/AAAAAAAAD6c/4kvAssoZT1U/s640/nt.jpg
This is Rt 15 ~90 seconds after the state trooper shut it down. Cars were still trying to cross until he shut it down as there was "no damage" to the road. The trooper and I just watched the road start to disappear.

Re: Hows the weather?

This is how my day started today. Tried backing out of the drive only to get high sided on all the boulders of ice and snow the town left at the end of my drive.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/1622682_10205291254591684_853725528529391237_n.jpg?oh=0fbbf0c97d3d2c0f2185baa56db14e2d&oe=550C0685&__gda__=1430360125_1729764275f80df42b802d6c0dcc091f

After snow blowing the drive I tired to use the Jeep to tow the  92x out. Only to find out we own the only Jeep with no fucking tow hooks anywhere.
https://scontent-a-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/10440642_10205291397155248_2682133732038853730_n.jpg?oh=b25391163e8fcb268ad9a652165ded95&oe=5504AC50

Trying the other end of the Jeep now.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10342750_10205291301712862_7853462027715037812_n.jpg?oh=c031b69da8692af91962e98926af2dd2&oe=55470C86&__gda__=1426494201_c79c299e20ea6fc80bcfb06aafa3375d

Finally was able to wrap my tow strap around the sub frame and yank the Saab out. It probably would have been a lot easier with 2 people but my partner was sitting in the nice warm house getting ready for work. By the time she was ready, her Jeep was nice and warm. She didn't even come out in the drive to take a good picture of how bad I high sided that fucker.
